My $.02... Use a cleaner that is residue free. G5 spray leaves a film as does some other spray cleaners. I use QD Electronics cleaner in the red can, this is far more effective vs IPA. Then I use Furutech nano-fluid. It contains gold, silver and carbon nano-particles and is superior to Caig although more expensive. OTOH, you don't use much so for one person a bottle may be a lifetime supply.
I also disagree that everything goes bad, it does not. Honey lasts forever.
I agree. Buy a new bottle. Clean your connections with 99+% isopropyl alchohol a few times. Let dry. Then reapply new G100 with as light a coat as you can manage. Wipe the brush a couple of times against the edge of the bottle before applying the brush to the connection.
Expect the G100 to take at least a week or 10 days to "cure" after applied. Before then, sonics will vary, with common sonic issues being a bit of brightness, light bass, and not quite firm imaging/staging. But at some point things will settle down and you should be very pleased. I have used this product in my systems for decades. HP in TAS was correct when he recommended this a couple of decades ago (then called ProGold). It is "the right stuff." The key is to use it very sparingly and then wait for curing to take place.
I've tried 70 / 91 and 99% isopropyl alcohol and a variety of Deoxit.
After trying a variety of ways, concoctions, and rituals I now first wipe the pins with 70% (I like the longer working time than 99%), I then spray them again and use my soldering iron thingy (I did a 5 minute vid but the 30 second one is here:
) and then I use a magic eraser (the 5x strength one). It harmlessly gets even the dirtiest pins looking shiny and new. At most I spend less than 2 minutes on this entire process.
FWIW, I used furutech nano some years ago on some new ICs and then spent a few hours trying to remove it from the plugs and chassis connects (which ain't easy). I thought it was detrimental to the sound's transparency. Perhaps I applied to much? Too little? Didn't say the right incantation when I was done? have no idea but if was a sonic detriment whatever it was that I did.
I'm totally a Caig deoxy guy now and clean all terminations yearly. It's a nuisance but it makes a small difference.

No matter what cleaner is used I'd only choose one that does not leave a film behind. Not sure which Caig product that is, probably the one for cleaning pots and faders.
On contact enhancers, they do take time to cure or burn-in or whatever. I only use them to prevent corrosion, never on plated parts. If you do use contact enhancer on plated parts I think the results will vary depending on the plating.
