While waiting for Chris’ assessment of what is going on here, my guess is that it’s a reduction of processing by the ATV processor that is leading to the improvements in A/V quality. We are already at such a low level of noise and jitter that even small reductions make a noticeable difference. On a regular ATV, switching to a static IP would not be noticeable.

Now, if that’s the case, what else can be done. Chris, can you disable the WiFi circuit completely? I don’t think it ever shuts off, even when Ethernet is connected. If we disable it completely, I bet that will lead to another gain in quality.

I have not, have you? I can’t imagine WiFi will be better. I’m using a high end Ethernet cable into the Taiko Router, which made a huge difference when I switched from WiFi.

It’s a good point! I don’t shut it off. I probably should but it’s not easy to know when it’s off without the projector being on as I have blocked the LEDs. It also needs time to stabilize once powered up, but I suppose that’s not long since the PSU is still on.
Does anyone have an easy way to shut it off, perhaps using Siri or holding the power button on the remote?

No I don't have an ATV X or streamer, just curious. Would save mucho money/cable spaghetti.
