The latest model also has the same capacity as Microsoft’s top-of-the-line Surface with Windows 8 Pro, which is set to hit store shelves on Feb. 9. In comparison, the Surface Pro starts at $899 for 64 GB of storage; the 128 GB model will cost $999.

When I read that, I couldn't help but facepalm ... good old Windows still has a voracious appetite for space, and this is on a tablet! What on Earth could Windows be doing that requires so much code! Legacy drivers for printers that were around in the 1980's perhaps? To be fair to them, a full backup copy of the OS is available on the tablet, and you could free up umpteen GB if you were to download that to a PC and remove it off your tablet.
It makes you wish that MS engineers should have taken Bill Gates more seriously when he said that 640K was enough for anyone and learn to code more efficiently ... instead of allowing Windows to become a resource hog.
