All, a little something for you Wilson owners. This is starting to gain more and more traction. If you haven't heard of it check out the links below. The idea is to pull the cables out of the modules. There have been two published reports and reports from people I know that own Wilson speakers. Doing this changes the sound in a clearly audible and beneficial way.

Hmmm. What happens if you pull the cables a little too hard and something comes amiss.

1) Wilson Audio solder joints are mechanically sound. Pull away judiciously
2) The PTA review set up was the point at which we started to fully quantify/fine tune the cable routing changes.
3) The routing has been included as a part of the set up process we teach.

Can this tweak be done on the XLFs? If so, how?

Hi Metaphacts,

Thank you. So is this something that is done during setup of the XLFs? Is it possible to double-check by looking in the back somewhere?

There is no cable adjustability in XLF. The gas tight , adjustable connection was introduced with the WAMM Master Chronosonic.

Thanks. Does this cable tightening and better sound apply to my Maxx3's?

The described adjustment applies only to Wilson speakers introduced beginning with the WAMM Master Chronosonic. It is done only on speakers where the connections into the mid and tweeter modules are run through the gas tight connection. The connector allows sufficient cable routing adjustment for the modules from one extreme setting to the other extreme. It is not a tightening per se. It is an adjustment to the ideal tension before properly sealing the connection.
