A modern Wadia X64.4

Ok i scored an Exogal Comet Plus with the remote. I'm looking to pair it with a Plixir Elite BDC 15vDC linear PSU with statement DC cable. I figured i'd give it a go with a really nice PSU and see what it can do. Most of what i've read online people have just used the "Plus" PSU which as stated above is NOT a linear PSU so i think we can infer that a lot of owners of this unit have not really heard what it is capable of..... we shall see....

I am using the Exogal Comet paired with the LTA Linear Tube Audio power supply.
It's a standard LPS+ 12V/3A.
It sounds clearly better than the original Plus PSU, it does not get warm at all and it's super silence.

@davenrk What are your thoughts on the DAC with your LPSU ? How does it sound to you? did you think it was worth going down this path and upgrading the PSU? I'm taking a gamble on this DAC but i like quirky devices and i'm curious how this will sound. Hopefully it's got some realistic timbre and microdetail texture as thats what i'm missing vs my Vinyl / turntable chain...

In my opinion it sounds very good; it’s a modern DAC but at the same time it retains many characteristics of the old Wadias: detailed yet natural, timbrally faithful, with preserved midrange presence, without excess in the bass, and with a more defined and precise soundstage than the Wadias. The LTA power supply has further improved its performance, and it deserves an appropriate power cable as well — I use a Final Touch Audio Elara power cord.

@davenrk At the start of the thread you stated this : "
NOTE in a transparent system, I have Graham LS5/5 speakers
every cd sounds different, with a different tonality"

Would you say the same holds true with the Exogal DAC?

One thing i've disliked with digital i've heard so far is that every recording has a sameeness
to it. With vinyl i hear the mastering and the recording distinctly like each disc is its own
sonic world. I've been searching for this transperency in a digital source....

Also regarding the Linear power supply upgrade, what sonic character did
it bring out? Deeper/wider stage? Detail?

In my opinion yes, but all the system has to be transparent, of course.
It's really easy to hear differences changing cables, for example, too.

You have also to consider it's cost, there are surely better dacs but you have to spend way a lot more.

With the LTA power supply it sounds better, generally speaking, in all the aspects.

Are you just using the little bluetooth remote that came with it to change inputs etc? i think it defaults to less than 100% volume on power up which if true is a little annoying.

Yes it starts from 50% when turned it on.
From standby mode it remains 100% and you only have to turn the mute button off.
