Congratulations on the excellent musical choice of the 'Sietse-Jan Weijenberg & Yun-Yang Lee' tapes. Can I ask you what brand and type of tape you are using in these releases?
BTW, is there any published information about the subs you are using with the ESL63?

Sounds great! Can you possibly put a snip of the tracks here for those of us interested in buying to hear? And/or a list of the actual music pieces on the tape/cd? (besides Beethoven Cello Sonata 3 which i can see in the photo).
Do you havd a CD for the Bach Cello suites as well? Unfortuantely, i am not (yet) a tape guy...but i am getting extremely interested in Mofi, XRCD, K2 and other higher-quality mastering/remasterings. So if you have both available, i am interested in both. particularly, if i can get a quik listen like some sites provide. Thanks for any help.

I just ordered the tape. I'm glad to see there are more folks making music available on tape. I am a tape project subscriber and I have purchased tapes from Yarlung records. It's expensive but the audio quality is amazing. Thanks again.

You guys are killing me...i just got finished saying to myself for the 100th time i would pursue CD to the nth degree rather than split my time (and money) into vinyl...and get used MoFis, XRCDs, K2, etc...and now forget vinynl, there's also tape which in many cases people say can be superior! the never ending pursuit! 
actually, i have heard nothing but extraordinarily good things about tape...i would love to hear someday. meanwhile, if i could hear a few snippits of this recording by Tony Ma...i look forward to considering the CD.

The blank tape which we are using is RMG 2100
The subs for ESL63 is a pair of 15" JM lab Frocal, they don't sell those drivers only anymore, at the time my partner asked JM lab to design the box for 100 HZ and with the width same as the ESL63 that can put to on top of it, and he made the box by himself from the design, so we don't any info of them sorry

The CD copy right of Bach Cello is belong to the performer, we only have the right of tape of that. and they already put to the market too. I don't have much knowledge of digital and web matters my main work is in tubes and analog, the rest works my partner will take care, we are sending tape to Myles for reviewing and will come up soon in positive-feedback thanks anyway hope you will join the group

We booked to CES and with tapes, I know there is one amp maker will demonstrate with our tape which he got, his room in Flamingo, and we will stay in Electric Print Audio's room in Flamingo too, hope to see you guys

Tony and Ed's CD in the beginning of the thread is very good. I am not qualified to comment about the musical performances but its sonic characteristics are very good indeed. I was first treated with the tape in Jonathan T's stunning room at the CES and decided that the tapes they brought down from Toronto had my name on them. ;-)
I had been playing the CD since I had returned from from CES + work travel but hadn't played the tapes. Then Rich Brown paid a visit yesterday. We played few of Rich's tape through the Nagra T + King Cello .75 with excellent performance, and I played the Tony/Ed's CD before breaking out the Ultra Recording tape of the same music.

It may not be a fair comparison since the Nagra T + KC has some head bump challenges that are contributing to nicer than natural sonics of CD played through a transport and an external DAC but the difference was truly night-n-day. The tape sounded like a real instruments in my room instead of a typical recording reproduced with good gear and the tape's transparency was scary. It must have been Tony's simple tube circuits for his A80 that brought out the transparency characteristics in his recordings. I have also noticed when I played the same tape late last night on a stock Studer A820 with ~ +/- .5 dB responses at ~ 20Hz - 20Khz with no head bumps and VU meters, I can see the recording was made at much hotter level by almost +6dB than other recordings I have - maximizing the capabilities of the modern tapes that can record up to +9dB in some tapes. Although we still heard the normal tape hiss through my speakers but overall dynamics acheived was remarkable. In the loud passages, the A820 VU meters that are calibrated to +4dBm pro level for 0VU still lived in the red zone sometimes pegging out to the right but the sound was still clear and lively.
I am yet to play the rest of the five tapes I had gotten from them, but I would have no questions needed to declare "Buy it Now" recommendation on their tapes to other tapeheads lurking around here. ;-)

Ed just clarified to me that his tapes are +4dB hotter than the other commercially released tapes. I can understand why because our other tape options are mostly dubs of old recordings that were done many years ago on old technology tapes.
To reiterate what I had stated above, in addition to the stunning clarity and transparency, increased dynamics of the modern original analog recordings from Tony/Ed's company are something to write home about. This is especially notable since I am a sick gear monger and not a fine music aficionado.

I was just listening at Ki's yesterday to the CD and the tape of the Beethoven Cello Sonata. We first put on the CD and we both agreed it was a fine recording. We then spooled up the tape and then the system disappeared and all that was left was the music/performers in our space. It went from a good recording to a 'musical event'. Absolutely stunning and I heartily recommend the tape to all members with a tape deck.

Hi Tony,
According to the Website info, the original recordings were made in NAB. I wanted to get as close to the original master as possible. Unfortunately, the C37 is still work-in-process. So far the A820 has the flatest response and will use it to play the tapes for now.

That is the same thinking of mine too, play back by the same machine of recording is the perfect repro, but somethings that can be measure out but can't be detect by listen, and something can be found by listening like transparency but no way to measure, last night we had a meeting to compare A810 ( stock)and A80 with tube with the same tape, result in day-n-night different too, so do listen with C37 with tube in future will give you a surprise
