Mike, I looked for you twice in the Dart/EA room but couldn't find you. I did run in to
@Al M. ,
@Ron Resnick , Jeff, Jim,
@brencho.
Some photos of mine and drive by impressions...
Liked this room for what it was. And this is despite generally not having interest in monitors and pentodes. It was a musical and engaging room.
Love the Toscas.
The surprise of the show for me. I'm not sold yet because the room has some problems at the time I was able to visit (damaged cartridge, CDs only, among others), but the WVLs have my attention. This speaker performs an absolute disappearing act in the room. Uncanny. And the integration of the AMT and woofer sounded very well executed. I'd like to hear one of the larger models perhaps, and in a different chain.
Warning: don't put your tongue on it. Ask me how I know.
Class D continues to make forward strides. But it's not up to snuff for me just yet. A good effort and I hear verified improvements behind the scenes are in progress.
I appreciated the matte black... Never seen before in a Triangle Art room.
Many people have told me they enjoyed the Songer room. I can't fall in. I heard this room as muddy, very boomy, and generally disappointing. Disappointing because I've admire this speaker in pictures for some time now. But it didn't work for me. The new venue with generally challenging rooms on the third floor is a possible explanation. But I have to wonder about the design as well. For starters, I don't understand the bungee cords and have to wonder if they're detrimental. I don't know but I'm willing to try Songer again and find out more. I know many will disagree but this is what I heard, and I'm not alone. Enough said.
