Taiko Audio Extreme Music Server

Christiaan, the above post is a bit confusing
.So 80% of your customers use roon and all you have is still working on a permanent fix and no addition insight as to the latest roon update from 12/19? It would seem by now you would have some feedback on the update to share...TIA
We have a good idea of how to solve it and are working on implementing the fix. This has indeed been the status for a little while, but rest assured, we are taking this seriously and are working on it as quickly as we can. The fix is not simple and requires quite some programming.

This only applies to XDMS alpha users. It concerns the toggle function between XDMS and Roon, as Roon as of build 1353 has changed the way it starts this affects this toggle function. If you only use Roon you can ignore all of this.

In general, for those who also use XDMS and want to update Roon, it is advised to do this in a particular manner by shutting down the TaikoRoon service (Taskmanager-Services), starting Roon via the RoonServer shortcut on the Extreme Desktop, and then doing the update. After that, restart the Extreme to revert to normal operation.

Thanks for the reply's guys.
Its now clear to me that you are looking at the Roon update from the functional side of XDMS.
My question comes from the sonic side of Roon. Does it sound better, the same or worse with the latest update (I don't have XDMS installed yet)?

I didn’t notice a big difference, perhaps slightly cleaner. Responsiveness is improved, though not back to before 1353, I don’t need to close/reopen the Roon remote app as often as before.

After John T took point and updated to the the latest Roon build I manned up and did the same. I haven't been able to tell any difference in sound quality with this Roon build (1357) compared to the last. It still sounds very, very good.

@WbF Administrators:
I would like to suggest that we add a multiple choice rank on top of this topic (like the one of USB/Ethernet/etc), for each person to select the brand of DAC they use with their Taiko: MSB, Lampizator, DCS, Totaldac, CH Precision, Aries Cerat, Wadax, Nagra, Soulution, other.

why not just ask Taiko how many of each DAC. IMO there’s no need for another poll. I’m sure Taiko can give us a broad impression of how many use which DAC

Steve, Good idea, but Taiko does not provide this information. I am quite curious to know how many dacs from each of the main brands (MSB, Lampizator, DCS, Totaldac, CH Precision, Aries Cerat, Wadax, Nagra, Soulution, other.), that's why I asked for the poll.

We don’t have telemetry like status reporting to keep track of how many of which DACs are in use.

But as we added support for 90+ DAC models to our USB driver, and as we need to extract their configuration specifics, which requires each of these DACs to be connected to an Extreme, those are or have been used by Extreme owners. It’s quite possible that a number of these are in use by just a few or perhaps even a single user.

With that said I’m quite sure that MSB, DCS and Lampizator are by far the most used DACs amongst our customer base, and I would estimate reasonably evenly split.

Secondary most used I would estimate to be Totaldac, Aries Cerat, CH Precision, Esoteric, Nagra and Chord.
