A friend sent this to me yesterday. It is hilarious.

But nurse practitioners are now introducing themselves are doctors...

I'm a retired healthcare provider. My professional training was in orthopedics and orthopedic trauma.

Nurses all of the time over step their boundaries, whether RN or nurse practitioner.

Maybe those nurse practitioners from your article have a PhD, in which case they could identified as a doctor but not as a medical doctor.

Healthcare these days is very corrupt with the primary focus being money vs patient care.

D-NP. They've made huge pushes to practice independently w/ certain states without an attending physician.
Unfortunately, I think many of us were shortsighted in over-hiring these 'extenders' to ease our workflow, and now we're trying to deal w/ the bed we made...

I think we when see anyone for medial care we need to know what is the diagnosis and no matter who is giving us the care
without getting into particulars.
we need to know why and its sad many people have no idea and get given meds like tictacs

So it’ll all be better with AI in the mix?

Maybe for sorting out prescription conflicts. My experience has been the opposite. Will take an RPN over MD if given the choice. The former is actually willing to discuss your issues in depth. The latter seem rushed for time and are often arrogant. My experiences. Of course, YMMV. In the end after needing alot of medical attention over the last two years, I've come to the conclusion that it's all a crap shoot.

Haven't seen my primary physician in ages. Instead, I have my annual checkup with a nurse practitioner. She is excellent and takes her time. She has found several issues (including one that later a specialist thought was hard to find) and referred me to the right specialists for follow-up tests who are also excellent.

I guess I got lucky that I live in one of the states, Massachusetts, with one of the best health care systems in the country. And I have great health insurance (from work) which covers all the care.

I realize not everyone is so fortunate.
