Apologies for a very belated reply Driveman, at its price point plus some the Tambaqui is a no brainer DAC that beats many much more expensive and well known DAC's for SQ, plus it has a huge mount of function being a Roon end point, head phone amp and pre-amp, plus it has I2S, AES and SDIF as well as USB connectivity, again bang for buck it is very hard to beat, I often combine a Tambaqui with both an Oladra KALA and or a K50 Kala, esecially with AES, which I'm very much a fan of.
That giant killer rep hits a brick wall though when compared to a Kassandra Ref, easily still one of my most favourite DAC's and in its own right an absolute bargain for a high end DAC even though it is easily twice the price plus some of the Tambaqui. Both are excellent DAC's at their price points.
Match the Kassandra with an Impera and one has to spend seriously big money to even come close SQ wise. With AC DAC's I often prefer AES to USB, but not always and often depends on the genre of music I'm listening to and what other components I have in the front end, as well as what speakers, plus if I'm using CAT6 or CAT7 LAN cabling from the Internet switch. The Oladra Kala from listening teams exceptionally well with the Kassandra REF and or the Helene, as well as with the Kassandra Limited Edition and the stunning Ithaka, which I'm a huge fan of to say the least.
Hope that all makes sense.
cheers,
Terry
