All this bru-ha-ha over a notice “hey fellas, we found something that’ll make your system sound even better” and “it is so good we’re rewriting our own code to take advantage and further improve the sound of our own program, so when its released you can expect yet another uptick in sound quality.”

The downside for users is what exactly? (Trolls, please don’t respond. Its a rhetorical question.)

To the Taiko team, I am pleased a new Extreme is resting comfortably in its new home, getting snuggled in.

Is that a blue light on the Extreme or just the camera playing tricks?

I must say after reading through some of these posts I can see why manufacture participation is very low.

I agree that well established global brands may have more to lose than to gain from actively participating to forums, but for niche, high-end emerging companies I believe it is worth the effort / risk.

Especially, when well managed as Taiko has obviously done over the last three years, direct participation can be really rewarding.

I myself have decided to purchase the Extreme reassured by the outstanding user feedback, and by the customer care Emile has shown here, together with their relentless strive for perfecting both the hardware and the software side of the machine. Reading magazine or online reviews would have most likely not taken me to the point of committing to the investment.

I can see how many times Emile must have bitten his tongue before responding (or not responding) for various reasons (IP protection, fairplay, etc.), but it is a privilege for us users to learn from the developers directly what they do and why they think it is the best way of doing it, so I hope Taiko will continue to be informative as usual ;)

I am in for the ET - Router - upgrade please put me on the list - especially with using Roon too...makes sense since Emile makes sense to me!
Even though I may not need the solution(s) right now I'd still like to take advantage of them -- my ISP, modem/router and LAN configuration, heck, even the room I have my system in will not always be the ones I have now. Waiting list for me, too!

Hi @Phantom-Audio ,

The fact that this is a proprietary technology probably means no. What it would take is Playback Designs to either share the technology used and us designing a PCIe card being able to utilize that technology, or Playback Designs to design something generally useable by other manufacturers to fit as an output in their transports. This is probably not in their best interest as that interface will give their transports an edge versus transports from other manufacturers.
I can't speak for Andreas Koch of Playback Designs but in the past I've found him very approachable and he spent some time coordinating with one of the player software developers to solve a problem I was having using the software with PBD equipment. Very refreshing, when the first impulse of many is to start pointing fingers and saying its a problem with the other guy's product.

Hardware compatibility is another kettle of fish, as Emile points out but you still ask the question. Andreas has always gotten back to me within a day, often much quicker.

Good luck!

mostly one brand SACD/transports -> dac combo's have proprietary interfaces per the 'Scarlet Book' regs.

nothing nefarious about it. it's a requirement for out-putting a raw dsd signal from an SACD. it's maybe past it's time for relevance, but it's still part of the picture.

That was exactly my thought when I saw the picture. Blue looks good
Yep, just the camera. But I do wish mfg's, with today's tech at their disposal, would make all lamps on the front of gear customizable for color and brightness. When listening in the dark I have this display, that display, this LED in bright RED, others in GREEN, even others in YELLOW. How nifty it would be to have them all the same and all just faintly glowing.

That said, the lamp on the Extreme is very elegantly done. Bravo!

There are 100+ very happy Extreme owners that read or participate in this thread. Everyone loves their Extreme and the latest news from Emile today will bring more happiness to all of these Extreme owners/users. It was GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!

I am very surprised that the moderators are letting this troll/Wadax fan boy to come into this thread with his nonsensical attacks and have ruined a stunningly great announcement that was made by Emile today.

Moderators, please wake up and at least ban this troll from this thread. He has never once contributed one positive comment in this thread. Although if you go back over the last two years, he has tried to disrupt the Extreme synergy that exists by the Extreme/Taiko community on many different occasions.

You don't see any of the happy Extreme users going into the Wadax thread and trolling just for the fun of it.

It's disappointing that this meaningless trolling is allowed to happen in this thread and definitely brings the Wadax name down several notches in the type of company that many people would choose to be associated with, regardless of how good the product might be, with representation from Wadax being presented in this manner.
Agreed! What doesn´t "kill" us, makes us stronger. (Portuguese saying).

I wonder if Emile can customise a light like this. Imagine listening to Also Sprach Zarathustra at full blast with this fascia! merlin_135847308_098289a6-90ee-461b-88e2-20920469f96a-superJumbo.jpg

Even better is a switch to kill the lights. LEDs have a deleterious effect on sound quality. The only lights in my system are the tubes themselves.

How do you get the TAS app for IPad? I can't find it in the Apple AppStore.

Sorry but it's not Portuguese in origin. In 1888, German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche first stated, “Out of life's school of war—what doesn't kill me, makes me stronger.”
"What doesn´t "kill" us, makes us stronger. (Portuguese saying)."
is not the actual quote....
"What does not kill us makes for a good dinner (Paleolithic fact)." is the accurate quote... I'm hungry. : )
It's been 8 weeks since I ordered my Extreme...Hopefully soonish.
