Not as commercial a product but a single driver markaudio in a frugelhorn xl may fit your space precisely

Agree. I heard a pair a few weeks ago and for their price, seemed pretty good value.
What is the musical purpose of the wood (?) over the woofer? Is it merely cosmetic?

Anyone heard these Fleetwood Sound Deville Speakers?

Me and my buddy ordered these the day before the price increased by 3K. Waiting to get em in. Think they got a massive amount of orders the week prior to the price hike.

I had no idea the price had gone up. So it seems they are around 12k now. Before they were 9?

I have a room that’s 11.5 ft wide by 23 ft long and 9 ft high.
Was wondering how the Charney audio Excalibur would fill the space driven by a 300b amp

i haven’t heard the Charney. But the pnoe which is a similar backloaded horn (bigger) with similar AER BD4/5 drivers will work wonders in a room that length if set up nicely, especially for classical, jazz, blues.

I did get the Charney with the western electric 300b amps … it was a failed experiment lol … I could never get it to work . Including a visit by Charney himself. I have the set up now in my bedroom for late night listening with the glow of the tubes … you can’t win them all . Nothing gained if you don’t try it .

Was it the amps or the speakers? What did you not like about the experiment?

As a long time and current owner of 3 pairs of Quad electrostatics (57s, 2805s, and 2905s), I’d recommend stats for a small room of the size the OP mentioned (15 sq ft with a relatively low ceiling). This room, being a perfect square, is acoustically problematic. You’ll get plenty of bass resonances with speakers that have a pronounced bottom end (e.g., stay away from Harbeth Monitor 40.x!). I have used Quad 57s and 2805s successfully in such a small room. The 2905s won’t work. They need a larger room. You can sit as close as you want to a Quad 2805 or 2812 or the earlier 63s. They’re a point source. They minimize room modes as they have no sound on the lateral axis. Peter Walker designed them for small British living rooms, which tend to be of the size of the OP’s room.

My primary listening room is a much larger space (6000 sq ft with 10 feet ceilings). I recently got a pair of Klipsch La Scalas and they sound beautiful in this larger space. They can be nicely driven with a 2 watt SET amplifier. I use Triode Labs 45M monoblocks. My Quads are in smaller rooms. The 2905s are in my really long dining room.

Alternatively, I’d recommend open baffle speakers with a vintage driver, if you’re not opposed to some experimentation. There are some great single driver cones that can be bought cheaply. I got an Altec 755C 8” single driver in a nice bamboo cabinet. No crossover, 96 dB efficiency and it cost me $1000! It was made by Gordon Rankin of Wavelength Audio. This website has a nice review of open baffle designs with vintage cones.

Finally, in my master bedroom, I use the Gradient Helsinkis, an open baffle design with a rather unique look. It’s intended to completely minimize room interactions. The midrange is tilted up so floor reflections are minimized. If you haven’t heard one, you might be stunned. On a good classical recording, your room disappears. It’s a mind blowing design, sadly not being made anymore.

I can make a strong suggestion that you check out the Tobian Sound Systems horn speakers. We will be debuting the brand new Tobian 12 Signature Edition next week at the Florida Audio Expo 2023, where the 12FHs made a huge splash last year.

This line is definitely worthy of consideration and we presently have the 12FH, 15FH and 12SE available for audition in New York.

I currently own Klipsch Forte IVs and my new Cornwall IVs coming in two weeks. The best piano I have heard in my room is the Forte IVs. Sounds so close to my friends piano in his living room. Before I got the Klipsch I had high hopes for Avantgarde Fino and Uno but sounded too lean with digital. I don't have a vinyl rig. And they demoed with solid state and tubes. JBL are quite nice too. Own and sold my 4309 bookshelf and like the 4367. Acapella Cellini is quite nice. Would love to hear Cessaro and Bluemedorfer line but not available in my country.
