Gian's system - Vyger-Opus vs Techdas AF3, SAT+Lyra Lambda

Preference video 2 by a country mile. Video 1 sounds very odd (not breathing, less nuance, slightly odd tonally despite same cart).

Ok, here's Lyra atlas lambda on Vyger vs on Techdas AF3 premium and SAT.

Hint: listen through the piece. If required familiarize yourself with the piece. Do you find continuity with one while listening, and more nuance? The tone is not going to be the decider here as it is the same cart.

2 nd vid much better , which is the vyger i suppose , fuller more natural
sound .
I can definetively hear the difference , which is quite amazing actually

Doesn’t seem like the videos are recorded with the phone in the same spot.

I find the difference in carts much harder to distinguish in the other vids
Probably coralstone 2 place , the other 2 first place

If the other two are first place, it makes the coralstone third place

that is fair. i can't justify my level of investment in digital logically. it was one of those "how far can i go?" things. i've been like that mostly. maybe if i was digital only and used the MSB as my preamp i would be approaching the 'logical zone'. the GG was never as impressive objectively as the MSB is to me, but there were moments that it really captured me (and i was in fact gaga). obviously i moved on to the Aqua Formula from it.....as a better system fit.

where i don't agree is viewing digital as 'relegated' to second rate. more that i view vinyl as "first rate+++". but i have fully invested in digital. and you are right that does not make equal sense to everyone. but everyone's 'fully invested' is different, including for vinyl.

to each their own.
There is a small collection of music I enjoy that I simply can't get on vinyl (tragically). So digital-only music, and Qobuz perusal are about it for me. Maybe I'd change my mind in your barn. But I have an Exogal Comet+ and haven't thought about moving up. It's serviceable and then some. What do you think would be a sizeable upgrade but modest investment worth jumping on opportunistically on Audiogon - Aqua Formula?

Bazelio, I've heard the Aqua Formula XHD at Blue 58 for over a year now, and it has a highly beguiling sound. Reach out to him for more impressions. I would sum it up as supple and agile.

My advice would be to seek out a demo of the Eera line of dacs, I believe they run at €5k, €10k and €15k.

Both Rblnr and JackD201 here can fill you in on them. I cannot praise the Eera sound enough.

Im talking shared first .:)
I ll have a listen again

Yes but if first place is shared by two, it still puts the third cart at three. Because there are two above

You really need LPs like dead can dance or jazz at the pawnshop to make a koetsu sound good

I had a wooden koetsu once on my SME 20/3A , i found it a bit coloured ,(bottom end missing )

Usually life and energy is also missing. You can hear it on pagannini, playing devoid of energy.

Dear friends
After some days of test and listening, until today I don’t know what I prefer
Listening the system is different than from videos even if one idea you can have
Vyger and AF3P with Sat are both amazing and among the top in their price target, also more and these 3 cartridges are fantastic
Koetsu is very natural on chamber music, small jazz group and voices,Opus has the best scene and depth and the best area from mid to bass and Lambda has an incredible mid high, more natural than previous Atlas sl and with the best mid high I listen until now and the sound come easily out of the speaker like an
Horn speaker more than
Koetsu and Opus

I would like a cart natural like Coralstone diamond with scene and depth and midbass like Opus and with Midhigh of Lambda

Never listen at home VDH,I had the top Colibrì some years ago but didn’t liked and
I sold,Etsuro,Red Sparrow and
straingauge

Kind regards to
Everybody

It’s interesting that phone on its own really focusses essentially more on musicality. It’s a quality that can come through less high end listening setups fairly easily. The kinds of sonic attributes that don’t necessarily come through could maybe considered as more purely sonic attributes but qualities such as cohesiveness, tonal balance and dynamics (macro and micro) are seemingly reliably conveyed in the phone drops.

Certain types of gear that perhaps are more centred in these qualities or seem to have a good deal of these attributes in a balanced way come out well in the video shares even if it then doesn’t necessarily do completely well at conveying the range and perhaps more linear attributes.

It’s great to learn off these explorations in a different way. All the work that goes into these compares really has value in terms of opening up how assessment is made and perhaps where musicality can lay in terms of sonic attributes. It’s almost like a filter that cuts back or through or strains out certain additional qualities and really amplifies perhaps more shared essential musicality and pares back and makes keen the musical senses.

3 - 2- 1 but koetsu sounds better here , 3 is much better then the rest imo
What is 3,... airtight opus ?
Better is to mention only what is playing on the vid , for example vyger - koetsu etc , its more clear then

It's mentioned both in the video and in the post that you replied to
