Watch Tesla Unveil Its Pickup Truck In Under 6 Minutes

No, they are less so than gas. The problem with them is the concentration of carbon in any given area can be problematic when you only have diesel cars, like parts of Germany. It isn’t cancer, it’s just too much of one thing displacing air. The positive is carbon is heavier and settles to the ground, where it’s harmless. Diesels aren’t perfectly clean, and US standards for them are estranged so it makes them sound dirtier.

Diesel fumes/particulates are carcinogenic, period. Look it up.

why do you continuously insult people’s purchase decisions and intelligence?

I criticize the lack of intelligence. The Norwegians have it right. Vehicles are for travelling from one point to another or moving freight from one point to another, nothing more. They should do this efficiently, safely and comfortably.

They should not be tools for intimidation or some kind of stupid competition for road dominence.

Given the existential threat of Climate Change, it is every persons responsibility to make choices that reduce the threat, not add to it. It is being socially responsible. It is being a patriot also because Climate Change is a national security threat as well.

So are gas, period. Look it up. I think you're confused on the argument here. I've been discussing the difference between gas/diesel, not ICE vs E.

Euro cars all have particulate filters now, even gas. Turns out all particulate emissions are not good for you, seems obvious, but recent evidence as to the size of them being carcinogenic is unfortunate.

I think judging others choices is a slippery slope, we're not qualified to judge for the most part, and who is to say what choices are appropriate? The real issue stems from overpopulation, the difference in choices we make given the choices available are largely insignificant. People judge your car, the size of your house, how many kids you have, what you eat, how much you travel, etc. based on what? IMO, it's largely based on their imagination. For example, people frequently imagine their EV is zero-emissions, their fantasy on this subject is almost always unrealistic.

In terms of doomsday scenarios, there have been multitudes of predictions and AFAIK they have all been wrong so far...

GTFO. Who the hell are you to judge others intelligence whom you don’t even know. I love driving my M2 and not just getting to point B. My friends tow boats, bikes, and other fun stuff with their trucks.

If this bans me, good riddance. I would never buy a piece of audio gear from you and think you embarrass yourself constantly. Your holier than thou attitude is out of line.

Mods, please shutdown this thread.

At the last debate Bernie and Tom said we only have 8-9 years left. This doomsday estimate has now dropped a couple of years in the past 6 months. I guess AOC made some new scientific discoveries. If we are so doomed already to me that says why not keep using gas cars right until the end? It would take decades to get everyone into electric vehicles.

You sure have some strange obsession with being intimidated by cars. You’ve mentioned this fear on a couple of threads now.

I thought trucks were exempt in the US from the same standards that apply to normal cars? hopefully that’s changed. I wouldn’t mind a nice F150 Raptor myself ;)

Passenger cars and light duty trucks are generally in the same category. Sure there may be some minor differences in what is acceptable in each safety test but the bottom line is you could never get an unsafe vehicle to market in the US.

So let’s try and get back on track

as of today I read there have been 187,000 preorders for the Tesla Cybertruck

granted the buy in is inly $100 but still not bad hype for a car that doesn’t do into production until 2022

Tfe $18,700,000 so far will help further R and D like those pesky shatterproof windows.;)

The combination of too many humans with combustion is destroying all living things and making the planet unlivable. It's not just ICE vehicles I'm objecting to.

I also object to using open fireplaces for "ambience". I object to farmers field-burning. I object to deforestation of the Amazon rain forest for agriculture and ranching. I object to the massive flaring happening all across the US wherever oil is extracted. I object to a government that continues to spend upwards of $300 Billion each year for oil and gas subsidies and programs.

Sorry to digress, but it needed a respone.

A video on Elon’s Twitter showing the Cyber pulling an F150. You can get an idea of the scale. It’s quite big. Steve Nugent must terrified of it.

Elon explains why the windows shattered on the Tesla truck ...
https://www.bbc.com/news/amp/technology-50547044

That's interesting that they should have used the sledgehammer after, and not before.
What if in a real life accident; should the windows being hit first before the door?
And about that second window from the back seat?
Anyway it don't really matter because he has three years (his team) to make this cybertruck a super EV pickup truck. I bet the army (Pentagon) is watching with great interest for its next fleet ...

As for the number of orders so far I thought it was in the over 200,000+ range, as of recently ...
