Entreq is no different from a standard retail cable. A guy here in Denmark opened a very expensive Entreq USB cable and what do you know; It was a standard retail USB 2.0 cable inside the fancy sock. I don´t have to tell you how angry he became. Entreq`s answer was that they never had any dissatisfied customers, but did not answer why they cheat, pretty much like a politician after an election. So now you know.

It´s pictures from a danish HiFi forum.

You got my interest! :). I read the first page and saw the pictures there but something must be lost in translation. I don't see any decent pictures of the cable inside that is supposed to be a standard cheap retail one. Did they post a picture of it elsewhere that shows it to be garden variety cable underneath the sheathing?

I heard from a reliable source that Entreq uses sand in (some of) their grounding devices. I am not able to check this as I am not using any Entreq products. But if this is true, it does not sound very assuring to me.

How about opening one of their units and when the sand is seen, make a class action suit against them for fraud or whatever legal tenet applies.

If that's true, they are charging a hell of a lot for a wooden box full of sand.

There are few things I like less than fraudulent tweaking companies.

As I mentioned in the other thread in more detail, sand is not just plain sand......
BTW I am not an owner and do appreciate that the grounding box (not really grounding per se in the context of chassis ground) would not look anything special inside but that does not mean it is not working (or that other solutions could be made to do the same technical/reference ground-plane).

Cheers

Agreed. I do not own any grounding product and do not plan to for the next 3 - 5 years, when I will start investigating them. But I don't understand why people need to see complex circuitry to see a thing works. That's like saying Acoustic absorbers are made of foo. Certain types of wood sound better on components, as well as when they are used to make violins and cellos. A grounding rod that goes into earth is, after all, a rod that goes into mud

I think this thread is ridiculous. The title is ridiculous and not respectful!!!
The assumption is which Entreq uses COTS product for its own USB cable.
Every item in our hobby is more or less overvalued than the cost of the material.
The speakers that I have and I love it costs for material only one thirtieth of the retails cost . And each of us can build them with the same components.
I am owner of Entreq grounding boxes and into my system they are truly effective.
So, if someone think which a wood box with simple sand (assuming that this is true) it is a fraud (and I do not understand why has to be...), he has to not take in consideration Entreq and build its own grounding box.

Entreq had never said its grounding boxes do not contain "sands" nor that it's USB cable is an expensive one. What Entreq sells is the improved sound after using its products. If you think Entreq products do not improve your hifi system then don't buy.

Hi Amir,

The pic on the discussion board had to be opened... here it is.

I'm sure the sand was blessed by the Pope or some other deity. ;)

It matters not whether it's sand or something magical in the box, electricity does not see the box as a destination. The box could be replaced with a small block of copper acting as a busbar or terminal strip. Leakage currents, noise current and ground currents may pass through the box or busbar on their way to their real destination. What is the real destination? The real destination is their voltage/power source - that big power company transformer down the street.

And no, they have little interest in going to Mother Earth either.

No, but there are many types of mineral sand components, some are common and some are very rare :)
I did explain this in the other thread, along with the caveat that this does not necessarily reflect the rrp or the fact others can create a comparable reference ground solution.

Would you be happier if it were amethyst or citrine? They're all quartz, just like sand, and piezoelectric.
Heck, a well respected vendor used a component from kitty litter and an inorganic laxative to make very popular power conditioning units, all quite piezoelectric. The Germans often use poled pvdf/Kapton in their mysterion devices.

I agree, don't buy. But this stuff is what gives this hobby such a bad name.

Heck, one of the most popular vendors hereabouts used a component from kitty litter and an inorganic laxative to make very popular power conditioning units, all quite piezoelectric. The Germans often use poled pvdf/Kapton in their mysterion devices.

Sigh.
The point is that some are taking "sand" in the wrong context that it has nothing but beach sand/gravel/etc and ignoring that the "box" is meant to be a mix of minerals including silver.
Everything else is meaningless even trying to discuss this because no-one knows the actual composition and just looking at it would also be meaningless, as already mentioned alternative solutions can be done to create ones own reference ground/plane.

BTW which vendors use kitty litter and inorganic laxative as you raised it otherwise comment should be removed as its context needs to be applied.

wait...so you...who have not tried any grounding products from entreq are calling them fake and useless ? How typical.... Please carry on...keep in mind your credibility is severely lacking...Perhaps people who actually have Entreq gear are more qualified to comment ?

Which picture? The only ones I saw were someone pulling back the sheathing and finding a USB cable underneath. What did they expect to find? Gold and diamond?

Now, if the cable is one you can buy in any store and they just put a wrapper on it, then that would be bad. That is what I am asking about. The site is not in English and while Google is doing a remarkable job of translating, it is still hard to sift through it and I stopped reading after the second page. Hence my question to you.
