What is the most highly resolving speaker you have ever heard?

Forget the looks, and the year (for people who can cope with it), but how do they sound? ...In audio, that's the main key.

Hi Bob they sounded real good BUT not 28k worth at least not to me, but the Lamhorn's 1.8 for 10k now that for me was an ear opener and you all know how i feel about speakers in a BOX.

My friend Chris Sommovigo has been using Sonus Faber Extremas which sound great with his Italian high end tube gear from Klimo. Very natural...

Every year I hear magnificent sound in the NOLA room... And the Magico bass can be amazing... Properly setup Maggie 3.7s are very competitive...

Overal though, I think the TAD speakers are the best I have heard. There is just something special about coincident drivers.

Infinity IRS-V! I heard these beasts back in 1991 connected to Electrocompaniet mono blocks & was stunned by the resolution, thunderous concert-level bass & ethereal "reach out and touch it" imaging. They are still the best speakers i've ever heard.

Infinity IRS-V! I heard these beasts back in 1991 connected to Electrocompaniet mono blocks & was stunned by the resolution, thunderous concert-level bass & ethereal "reach out and touch it" imaging. They are still the best speakers i've ever heard.

Do you remember what was the model of the amplifier? I have heard great sound of the Electrocompaniet AW250's, but it was not a mono block.

The room in this case was a bit small for the IRS system as the bass towers are too close to the side walls. That said, I would not be complaining if I had to stuff those speakers into my room The guy who owns those speakers is Bill LeGall from Miller Sound. He actually owns 2 immaculate pairs & another pair of IRS-Beta's!! Actually his whole home is like the coolest home i've ever seen and is a monument to music. He has a large collection of really cool collectibles & almost every room has an awesome system in it. Bill and his wife did a full refurb on the pair in the picture including replacing the neodymium magnets in all 24 Emims with improved versions, replacing the Series IV bass drivers with Series III drivers (which he prefers), upgrading and refurbishing the crossover & servo amp and giving the beautiful rosewood timber a new, darker oiled finish. Bill was actually one of the first guys to completely refurbish Emims (before Graz started offering refurbs) and of course is well known for his Infinity repairs. I know, how lucky is that guy?! The standard IRS-V's had incredible bass & the best imaging i've ever heard...I can't imagine how good Bill's restored pair sound!! It is great to see his level of passion for audio, and classic Infinity's in particular. He is living the dream

A dead room (high absorption) will make any speaker sound more "resolving". I would be a significant number of "audition" situations are apples to oranges because of vast differences in the way rooms are setup.

More "resolving" doesn't always sound better since a more "live" diffusive room may actually sound better for some types of music, especially with stereo pairs.

I would bet that music recorded and mixed properly in dolby Atmos multichannel with LOTS of high grade speakers... can actually beat stereo imaging and realism.

Multiple point sources is how you would hear a live band and object oriented steering of sound sounds pretty frekin awesome when done right. The suspension of disbelief can definitely be more impressive.

This is so true. I was in the mastering rooms at JVC in Japan. The rooms were totally dead. I'll have to find a pic to post, but the speakers were very large Genelecs (or ATC, can't remember) and were ear bleed resolving. I got a headache in 10 minutes!
