Hope everyone is having a wonderful day with all your loved ones.

And a special thought to our overseas servicemen and women who are unable to be with their families so we can enjoy this day!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American friends here! I think I'm still stuffed from last month's Canadian Thanksgiving.

Have a great day guys! :D

Well said Myles...same to ya!

Happy Tryptophan Day everyone!

Nice gesture re our people in the 'service,' Myles. Same to you, yours and every other misfit, rogue and contentious critter here at What's Best.

Happy Turkey Day everyone. Do our Canadian neighbors have turkey on their Thanksgiving as well or is something else traditional?

Yeah, you Canadians always are a little 'off.' :)

And we like it that way! ;):p.

We do indeed have Turkey on Thanksgiving. There are local traditions as well, which vary from region to region...I would assume the same is true down south.

I'd like to also express my well wishes to everyone here on this special day. It is always such a wonderful day spending with family and friends

How's the weather where everyone is today as there seems to be huge fluctuations across the country. Presently 70 here with a high of 78. We might even eat outdoors today as the weather is so nice

Happy Thanksgiving !!! Great group of friends here !

Same here , I am unfortunately not in the 'States right now .. :(

So much to be thankful for no matter where you live. Ability to buy and enjoy equipment and music. And great set of virtual friends found through our forum. So easy to take all of it for granted. And yes, I hope our servicemen and women get to have a nice thanksgiving away from home.

The weather here is unusually nice. Sun is out with a temp of 41 degrees. Yes it is cool but the sunny weather makes up for it :).

Planning to cook a turkey in the smoker again (but trying to not smoke it). Crossing fingers that I get it properly cooked :).

Happy Thanksgiving, friends. It is really great to have met many of you, and I look forward to meeting many more.

The weather, as Amir said, is unusually nice for this time of the year. Morning started foggy, but the sun drove the fog away quick. I won't try cooking outdoors or eating outdoors though.

The makings before I started stuffing. The fresh chantrelles, morels, apples, sausages, wild rice and duck rillette go inside the turkey with crumbed bread. The bacon goes all around the outside to flavor the turkey.

I also bought some of those nice looking (and on sale!) chantrelles at Whole Foods. Didn't think about using them with turkey though. I am cooking mine on the smoker this time with nothing in the cavity. Supposed to allow the bird to cook from inside in addition to outside, making sure the breast doesn't overcook while the leg is reaching temp. That's the theory anyway :). Proof in 3-5 hours....

Yeah rub it in :)

Yeah rub it in :)

C'mon Myles, California has nothing on us. Thanksgiving in NY was perfect. About 40F, cold and crisp and the sun was shining- just like the Pilgrims meant it to be for celebrating the end of the harvest season. Let me tell you, I lived in LA many years ago for Med School, and Thanksgiving to X-mas was depressing as hell. There's only so much joy to be derived from seeing plastic snow flakes on palm trees. To be fair, January nights in LA are wonderful, whereas by that time in NY, we're ready either for Spring, or a Caribbean vacation!
