I just watched both Part I and II of the Billy Joel documentary and couldn't get enough, Produced by Tom Hanks and Sean Hayes, this is a wonderful and joyous treatment of a musician who really did write the sound track of my life. Fantastic stories, production and of course, the music. From his strained relationship with his father to his family's background as German Jews, this is a focused and coherent story of his journey from Long Island clubs to his 100th performance at MSG, and beyond. The relationships with his wives, friends and bandmates were all covered in great detail. 5 hours of viewing in 2 parts, it was just a wonderful and joyous celebration of a remarkable career that may not yet be finished! I loved every minute of it.

I agree completely Marty. Great to see what they have done to clean up scenes from Billy Joel Tonight which sounded damn good.

Looking forward to viewing.

we binged it yesterday and what a remarkable story, truthfully told from all parties. A hallowed life but at what price , success.

Watching him playing to packed and ginormous venues showed the might of this man whose songs were the story of his life. Hearing the words to the songs and when, why and how quickly they were written made it so much more important for me He has lived quite a life and thankfully he has defied all odds and spilled his guts sitting at home by his piano, Seems he has faced his demons and reconciled his glorious life.Well done by Tom Hanks

Two thumbs up and not to be missed

I totally agree Marty. I grew up on LI and saw him before he was "Billy Joel". His music and his run of terrific material is amazing and he has a great voice and is lots of fun to see in person. He used to do NYE and I went with my ex wife a few years in a row.
I love Billy's music and the Stranger is a top ten album for me , learned a lot about him watching this well done show.
"They say that these are not the best of times
but they are the only times I 've ever known"

Elliot there is only best of times per the individual I feel.
but I like joel as a performer but his music is nice and a handful of his songs I enjoy
seen him live a couple of times.
I have been lucky in my own best of times in seen many people live before they past
Onto the next act in life.
Joel is like Luther vandros he played to the people there and you knew it.

Thanks for the information about the documentary. Also great to see that Tom Hanks is involved in the project. Larry

Not the biggest Billy Joel fan but really enjoyed the documentary.

After watching the first 2 1/2 hours we could hardly wait the additional week for the second half to be released. Surely one of the better documentaries of this type I have watched. I think Joel is one of those artists where the concerts are better than their recorded music.

What a treasure trove of audio and video they had for the basis of the documentary.

I thought the editing was superb and made the story flow well

What a raw and real documentary. I give a lot of credit to Joel, no punched pulled.
