Aurender N30 - To stay competitive in 2021

Changing ethernet cables or otherwise optimizing the ethernet does not make a difference with the N30SA here (in contrast to my old Aurender S10). The isolation of the N30SA LAN port apparently works very well.

The N30SA wants the best power cord you can get, wants to stand as vibration free as possible. It talks to my DAC over the SPDIF protocol via an 110Ohm XLR cable, aka AES/EBU. I found this sounded better than SPDIF over RCA. I use an in-akustik air-silver cable.

I put the N30SA onto IsoAcoustic Orea feet. It hates vibrations.

The N30SA is a beautiful naturally sounding device. I mainly play local files but even streaming sounds good. I have not heard any better music reproduction outside of ultra high end analog.

beautiful system! Regarding the Oreas, did you end up using the Indigos?

That's easy I make them under horizon cables unfortunately no website but I can confirm they work very well. 2 cables 1 power 1signal

Suspect this is a question best answered by Aurender dealers…is Aurender developing direct ISL interfaces that brands like Pink Faun and Taiko are developing/releasing for top DACs manufacturers such as MSB, etc? And, if so, will they be compatible with the N30SA, N20, etc?

In addition to being a UK retailer of Aurender machines, he is also the authorised UK service agent for Aurender and has an N30 in his demonstration system.

I know he has made some extension umbilicals for clients and his own N30.

His Coherent 6D Gen II cable is rather special. I have them in my own system at home.

I’ve had few conversations with Aurender Chief designer, he recommended to stick with stock umbilical cords. I brought up this topic as I was fiddling with off-market data umbilical cable and the two I have tried didn’t made any audible differences, YMMV.

I understand this is an Aurender thread but just wanted to update my last post on umbilical cords. I have an Innuos Statement next-gen server. It came with 33cm long umbilical cords that meant stacking the two pieces necessary. I wanted umbilicals long enough to be able to place each unit on its own shelf.....and to improve SQ. I discovered several cable companies make umbilical cords, but ultimately went with Sean Jacobs (Custom hifi cables). I bought a 50cm pair at aprox 2k USD. After 300 hrs break in (necessary) I feel the biggest improvements in SQ were soundstage and imaging. The soundstage became bigger (wider and deeper) than with the stock U cords. Images within the soundstage were more precise and clear. This was a 'worth it' investment for me.....however in my system and with my server I would place aftermarket improvements in order of great to good. Power cord / isolation / digital cable(USB) / aftermarket umbilical cords / aftermarket fuses. YMMV

Did you only leave your Statement NG on for 300 hours,.or did you also play music for those 300 hours.?

To break in the umbilical cables I left my Statement NG and DAC on and used Roon 'radio play' and let it play for a couple of weeks. I believe the Innuos Sense app also has this feature. Not sure if I needed to play music to break in the umbilicals as you would to break in a USB cable but I thought if I played music during the break in time more current would travel through them and would possibly break in faster.
