Lyngdorf TDAI 3400

Precisely! The good news is that it’s a problem in the past, happily now resolved with everything installed and working perfectly without issue and all sounding great.

We agree that there is a good reason why the pro studios AND folks like those at Benchmark (due to their presence in the studio industry ) as well as Peter Lyngdorf have opted for these connectors.

I’m hopeful that what I have cobbled together will last me until my end days, tbh, and while music is a lifelong passion for me, I’m not nearly as deep into the technical aspects as you clearly are. So at this point Tom I’m gonna kick back and enjoy the music.

But you’ve piqued my interest a bit so next time I speak with my close friend from high school, Don Was, I’ll ask him what his experience has been with SpeakOn and Benchmark gear. As the most famous producer in rock ‘n’ roll music today, the man has been in more studios than Carter has pills, so he’d know. If you’re not familiar with Don, just look him up. At last tally I think he’s won five Emmy’s and has produced everyone from Bonnie Raitt to Elton John to Dylan to the Rolling Stones and is presently president of Blue Note records. He and I speak often enough these days but generally talk about music and art and people as opposed to all the technical stuff addressed in these forums. Having been close friends with other musicians like (sadly deceased) Doug Fieger from The Knack I spent most of my life curiously observing how most every artist I know in rock ‘n’ roll is not nearly as much into the equipment as they are the art itself, which I’ve always found to be odd but when thought through, not surprising.

Cheers,
KrellFan1,
Don Was seems like a seriously nice guy. He was nice enough to spend some time with a friend of mine and I after a record release party for Was not Was at a club in Santa Cruz, CA. We must have chatted for a solid 30 minutes after the show and it was a pleasure. I later found out we have a mutual friend who confirmed my feelings about Don. And yes, he is a powerhouse of an influence in the music world.

I stumbled into this post because I'm a new Lyngdorf 1120 owner and want to exploit more of it's features which are discussed at length in this thread. But I think where this is all leading is that there will be a new Lyngdorf processor or 2210 in my future.

And @tmallin thanks for your exahustive work in explaining the Lyngdorf amp and streaming.

Yes, Don is exactly that. A genuinely great, humble and humane person. Imagine spending nearly every afternoon during my summers in high school with Don and David in David's dark room downstairs smoking weed and writing comedy skits, creating humor and yes, some music of course. But very cool you had the chance to spend some time chatting with Don. As a quick aside, Don would not be alive today if not for my mom, who used to date his father in college! She wasn't "feeling" it for Don's dad, so introduced her best GF to him on a hunch they'd hit it off. They DID hit it off, got married and Don is the product of the marriage! I constantly remind him of that! Haha.

As regards @tmallin , I would ask this: I am on the hunt to replace my pure Class A Krell Duo 300 XD which is a glorious piece. Options are Pass Labs X250.8, though many friends and a few dealers, tell me it would be essentially a lateral move with nominally different sonic characteristics, but not in any way better. Then of course there is the X350.8 which provides of course more power and naturally more headroom though with my room size (19X16 w 8 foot ceilings), I don't know that I would benefit by the additional headroom. I also have a close friend who is a dealer for McIntosh and he is recommending the MC462. I have read a lot of reviews and watched many videos and it looks like a serious contender. The final option would be to have a chat with Claus who runs Lyngdorf USA to discern if he may have an inside track as to when the company may release a stereo version of the wildly popular multi channel amp that I absolutely love - the MXA-8400. Quite sure it is coming. But I have a dealer friend who is also a Lyngdorf dealer and also represents many pure class A and AB brands, and has a thing about Class D and tells me that for the purposes of two channel stereo, it (Class D) can never rival Class A due to its architecture which inherently, in his opinion, creates a compromise.. Thoughts?

Bought a short time ago the little brother,

The Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 and do not regret it at all.

Very good match with my speakers.
Sound is excellent and with the RoomPerfect System you have an outstanding tool to get rid of most of the naughty room resonances by keeping the "soul" of your speakers.

Even the phono part is very good.
