Lukasz Has Done It Again

The one thing that is stated in the video is tube rolling could be a thing of the past in this DAC, yet having said that Lukasz seems to say that whatever you roll now in the H360 will work in the Aphrodite but caveat emptor!!!!

I promised Lukasz that I will use only the stock tubes until he and Fred arrive....also I will be able to give feed back on playing the DAC SE and not XLR

I am so reminded of the days of yore when you guys would hot swap tubes during the demonstration

BTW - Lampi ad on the front page asks to be changed as "Horizon DAC of the future" is somehow outdated now...
indeed ....just waiting for finished photos to do the update

They did that at my house at both events and I was tongue tied as I would never do such a thing

Yeah but only with a recti...never with output tubes...

TBH when they did it I had to close my eyes and say a little prayer as I had never witnessed such a tube roll

I love tube rolling and have been through so many iterations with eh Horizon that I have my preselected power tubes and rect but gone will be my beloved triode set. Yet having said that one has to wonder if Lukasz comments about no need with the Aphrodite as he has voiced it with the stock tubes supplied. Also talking to Lukasz and Fred, I got the feeling that the sonic attributes we love with our chosen rolled tubes and adapters might sound good but different in the Aphrodite than in the H360.....so stay tuned cuz nothing is going to happen until they are here

But Aphrodite doesnt cancel Horizon, it is just a variation for those who used volume63 and never needed control in the first place, the two are together, it is a family
Im one of those 63 freaks. I had to have full signal into my preamp. It was the same when XDMI came out. Initially it was only to have been via aes/ebu which did not deliver native as it had a limitation up to 24/192 and with some nudging managed to get Lukasz to visit Emile in Holland and in a few short weeks Lukasz had the solution and there is now the Taiko XDMI input which receives all native

Lukasz has an amazing mind to have put that together so quickly

Do we have a price on the Aphrodite?

Ah yes at the bottom, 88k euros introductory price with Horizon trade ins available

We all loved tube rolling lampi dacs , but stock tubes hand picked by lampi or fred were always good. Will this new dac be at Capital audio fest ? This year
?

Vol control is only needed to match gain on premap , but as lampi has said it's removal is a good idea.
Lampi has come to know what is needed to make this new dac a new height .
Congrats to lampi and lampiNA.
Enjoy guys

Looks like output is 3v compared to 7v for Horizon which often overloaded certain pre-amps (mine included) hence the need for volume control.

At the uber DAC and system level you are best served by not having a volume control/attenuator in the signal path. You must, however, be running a preamp.

Here is what Greg from G-Point had to say today after listening to the DAC for 3 hours uninterrupted:
Greg is a good dealer and mediator.

Not seen him for a good few years but if you are in the UK he is easy going and will do his best to try and set something up for you.

If you know a very competent electronics engineer who is local don't worry if you have an issue. Let him oversee the product. He may have some great ideas behind him.

Like software, hardware is very modifiable and tunable at this bespoke level.

Good luck.
