I am maniacal out how any item I ship is packed. Some factory packaging is inadequate. If it can’t be dropped ten feet, without damage, I will double box. When double boxing is unrealistic reinforcing the box with additional layers of cardboard or hardboard will often provide adequate protection.
When you’re the buyer- Spend the time to discuss, in extreme detail, how the item is currently packaged. If you feel the packaging, as it stands, is not up to the ten foot drop test ask seller for additional reinforcement, as outlined above.
