Why, oh why, does vinyl continue to blow away digital?

fair enough. go to your local dealer and get a streaming/transport demo at different price points.....in the same system. see if one hit's your budget.

or not.

the music is calling.

The music is calling differently for different people.

I like to listen to the same music/recording many times so that I can really get to know it intimately. I like to analyze, too. Just now I am infatuated with Stockhausen's Punkte and his Stimmung, music that I have had on CD for a very long time but only now really get to know. I have spun each CD a number of times now, and each time get to know the music a bit better.

For a listener like me streaming is less essential than for someone who likes to explore new recordings all the time.

There is nothing wrong with either approaches. There is no reason to judge either way.

Case in point: I’m listening now to a tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley via streaming and I don’t have any of his albums on CD or vinyl. Streaming makes this possible. The next time I’m in SF, I’m motivated to find his vinyl in my usual used record stores. Or his CDs. Then I’m in a position to compare. But streaming is perfect for sampling a wide range of music in all formats. I’m delighted we have this technology and would not want to be without it.

Transferred from analog to digital by Ron McMaster, one of the few engineers that can retain most if not all of that analog goodness.

Is this a moment where some don't like others opinions so they try to insult and drive them off the forum? Haven't enough good voices left, or shall a few more be sacrificed to hubris.
It is, unfortunately.

Just to tell WBF members and readers that after consulting the WBF moderation team I will go on ignoring the personal insinuations by members bonzo75, lagonda and andromedaaudio and will not loose my time with them.

But I will surely debate with all other members that share or disagree with my opinions, as always. My preferences and my system (past or current) will only enter the discussion when I find it appropriate to illustrate or IMO are relevant to the debated audio aspects.

With that said, I would like to (once again ) remind our members to post about the post itself or the thread topic, not personal comments about the poster. This is part of the TOS that everyone of you agreed to, prior to becoming a member.

Micro the only thing i asked you was to show us your sources which seems like a fair question .
Just a couple of pics of Tape machine ,TT and the digital set up.

If you state your digital is clearly superiour i like to see where the comparison is based on.

Yes, some understand 'new recordings' as modern or contemporary. To me a new recording is one I have not heard yet. There are thousands of new pre-barcode recordings.
Me, me, me…

This discussion has reached a level of absurdity that makes it comical - or perhaps a little sad?
