What's Spinning Tonight?

Ron and NorthStar, have you guys heard the newer Trower stuff....it's pretty amazing IMO.' What Lies Beneath' is very tasty. I have seen Robin live on several occasions and as a fellow axe player, you really have to respect the guy. I never saw SRV live, wished I had, but I understand that he was more incredible live than almost anyone.
I did get to see Joe Satriani live a few years ago, IMHO he's too flashy and not in the same league as RT never mind SRV. Would love to see Eric Johnson live...have you guys seen any of these players 'Live'?

Dave

Sad to say , no to all. The only axemen of note I've seen live are Jimmy Page, Ronnie Earl(many), Bert Jansch, Richard Thompson, Leo Kottke.

No Davey, I did not; unfortunately.

Good morning, folks. For the next couple of hours, Vince Gill and some very talented guests will be entertaining the Reitz household. Here's what's playing now...

It's a 4CD set featuring many guests. They break it down into 4 sets;

1 - Workin' on a Big Chill - The Rockin' Record
2 - The Reason Why - The Groovy Record
3 - Some Things Never Get Old - The Country and Western Album
4 - Little Brother - The Acoustic Record

This collection also includes a 64 page booklet of the lyrics, photos and liner notes. Here's some more information about the album collection >>> http://countrymusic.about.com/od/cdreviewsal/fr/TheseDays.htm and if you are interested, check out this you video that explains a pivotal point in his career that just so happens to include Eric Clapton.

I got the same set too. :b
...Vince has some great recordings with beautiful sounding guitar playing,
and with a great peaceful voice.

I really dug the second one. A lot!

Right now, I'll go ahead and spin some Allman Brothers Band. How about some "Live at the Fillmore East".....

Tom, I got the DVD The Allman Brothers Band - 'Live at Great Woods'. Very nice. :b

...And a bunch of CDs from them, plus Gregg Allman's few solo CDs.
...Luv Gregg; great vocals, very Bluesy. :cool:

Long time audiophile fave remastered by Bernie Grundman. Used to use it as reference album back in the '90s; sounded great on MBLs, stats and back then, the van den Hul Grasshopper cartridge in the Forsell table. In fact, stats eat this type of music up.

My favorite part is when they do the rendition of the Pink Panther theme......you can tell that they are having nothing but fun! Awesome.

I saw that tour live. Absolutely fantastic!

Myles, how does the new 45rpm version compare to the Columbia 1/2 speed mastered LP?

Haven't had time to compare; am down to deadline on a couple of reviews. Don't know if I have the 1/2 speed but do have the original release. Will have to hunt through the shelves.

I had both the original LP and the 1/2 speed. Thought the half speed was pretty good, but there were a few anomalies in the low-level ambient cues IIRC.

Playing right now ::

Alternative/Progressive Music on the r.a.d.i.o. (analog FM Stereo).

Excellent! :b

...Big time Jazz influence.
