MUNCHEN 2025 MOC / MARRIOTT The final Chapter !

I havent heard a really good allround horn set up at The munchen show .

Most were shouty / to prominent i couldnt stay in the room.very long .

Listened to a nice organ today in Torino .
That’s not good, particularly when you consider that the overwhelmingly majority of music played at shows is simplistic, low hanging fruit, audiophile sound effects.

WE horn was very immediate, very dynamic and live.

In general dynamic drivers are behind horns in dynamics

It is also way more natural and has more musical resolution

Between horn systems (WE, Avantgarde, Cessaro, acapella, …) in MOC 2025 I think the WE horn sibatone was more immediate more dynamic but my feeling may be wrong because I listened in show condition very few music tracks.

Yes to my ears WE was more natural, the closest thing to live music

This has always been the case. I don’t like Acapella, it has some decent midrange but midbass is poor and always needs extremely high powered amps. Heard violon, violoncello and Sphaeron Excalibur all in private set ups

I listened to Acapella with Acapella amplification two times (moc 2024 and 2025) so I can not judge it’s sound but what I heard in Munich 2025 the WE horn was much more dynamic. In comparison by WE all other systems in munich were not immediate/transparent.

My friend also visited Acapella factory last year but he did not like the sound.

I don't have time to explain at length, but I'm almost certain that no one will be able to do what Acapella did. There's probably no more time. On Thursday, before the official opening, we listened to Beethoven's violin concerto. Phenomenal, until now I didn't believe that this was possible in a system. It was the most alive music.
It's true that they changed something on Sunday and screwed up the whole thing so badly that it worked just as average as all the other systems at the fair.
Otherwise, FM Acoustic is always the first league without a doubt, along with Manuel, from whom other exhibitors could learn how to handle such things.

How would you compare the Acapella system with the Western Electric horn array whilst transducing classical recordings ?

Did you listen to Aries Cerat in the sweet spot?

I had mixed feelings about Acapella this year. Thursday they played too loud. Saturday it was fantastic and realistic sounding. Sunday it was dull and boring. No other system I heard exhibited such day to day variation. I thought the Hyperion was more consistent overall and also quite lifelike sounding.

He doesn’t like horns…we went around this same loop after last year’s show…

One big sadness. WE (Silbatone) played the worst this year in my opinion.

Yes … A little more coloured to my ear also , this time around, based for my part singularly upon various YouTube ‘s , however also upon the considerations of a couple of trusted regular Munich attendees. Possibly the room , possibly the pick-up cartridge when vinyl was in play … Dunno !

Totaldac - no doubt that they were in a comfortable position to record their own room in the best conditions, but anyway is seems that it sounded very good. Totaldac has 11 different shots of their room&system (various kind of music, including classical)
Martion - seemed very good too (despite the ubiquitous and hackneyed Dire Straits here).
(But what about voices with that audacious coaxial horn system?)

The Martion was a little bit compromised since the speakers need a corner placement but this was only perfect for the right speaker. The left had no corner at all. Anyway, the Martion was better than nearly all other horns, only the Silbatone room was superior.
