The day continued with listening to classical music...
Really nice with something different from my usual "diet".

Also I can buy this Abbey-Road version yesterday…
I had already compared four different versions of “Love over Gold” in the past.
Original:
By far the “loudest” recording—and also the worst.
Sounds harsh in the hi-hats, which can only be recognized as “hissing.” Overall very “nervous.”
Simply Vinyl
Significantly quieter than 1 – and with the best vocal presentation.
Here, Mark is clearly in the foreground.
I also really like this pressing in general.
MFSL (45 rpm)
Volume somewhere between 1 and 2 – and with the best dynamics.
Unfortunately, the focus of the mix here is very clearly on the bass range, which for me personally is “too much” and a little rumbling.
This also makes the vocals much less clear to understand.
Overall, not quite my cup of tea.
Abbey Road (the version I own now…)
Same volume as 3, vocals very similar to 2, even if Simply Vinyl remains unbeatable here.
The Half Speed Master is by far the “clearest” recording, everything can be heard extremely well and the guitars sound far more distant than on all the others.
It feels very coherent and I like it a lot.
My personal ranking:
1. Abbey Road
2. Simply Vinyl
These two are very close together and you can “live” with either of them very well.
Then, with a clear gap:
3. MFSL
4. Original
The €70 for the MFSL (I have the Communique) is actually an “insult” compared to Abbey Road, given the sonic advantages of Abbey in my opinion.

I change my focus and slide over to more jazz-oriented phonograms.
