What's Spinning Tonight?

I was at this same show......

John, did you know that it was from that show that Roger Waters spat on an audience member because that individual person was too rowdy and distracted him?
I was right there at the front stage.

Also, did you know that it was from this very specific incident that Roger Waters started to write about 'The Wall'?

Yes John, very true! The Wall's first true origin is from that very incident! In 1977, July 06, in Montreal, at that specific concert, and from that specific situation (altercation with that audience member).
You can google it, and you'll get all the details, plus Roger Waters' speech right from that incident!

And to top it all up, I was right there! And only few feet from it all! And then came The Wall ... Ouch!
*** Roger Waters was truly pissed! He wanted to sing his tune; and that guy just pissed him off!
Again, The Wall is directly from that very specific incident! Just Wow!

Assisting at history in the making ... We have witnessed it! ... Part of it!

Yes I was aware, but I wasn't close enough to see the actual incident, although my BIL and I did bring binauculars. I think it must have happened when we were passing around something of substance....;)

What Roger Waters did not like was the noisy fireworks at the front stage from some audience members. And he even stopped playing at one point, along with the rest of the band, to make that famous short speech.

Roger I think was taking himself just too seriously. He was young then, and didn't know better from large concert venues like this one.
Pink Floyd didn't have enough experience from those large scale outside concerts.

* But then; from it we got The Wall.
The Wall represented the boundaries between the messengers (performers) and the listeners (audience), or all the bricks that form a huge wall between all the religions, the different life values, and all that Jazz ...
Very impactful indeed, and even more so because it's Pink Floyd!

I was on acid; Tangerine Dream (we also called it Soft Machine from my hometown).
{Pink Floyd played with some members from Soft Machine; did you know that?}

* You wanna stories about acid? All kind of acid? Life and death situations?
... And many many times too!

I have some of those stories myself, but they are happily behind me...I don't even partake in the 48..jpg any longer. :D

Speaking of acid, I think that the songs Wish You Were Here and Shine On, You Crazy Diamond were written about Syd Barrett, who was in the band at the very begining. Syd evetually had to leave the band because of his acid problems, I believe.

Robert Wyatt?

Right now:

* Couldn't locate my vinyls (album, record, LP, ...) versions, so listening to my CD version (not sounding good at all). My DVD-Audio version is much better; I'll put it on after.

** There is also an SACD version (from Japan).

Interesting...A friend of mine recently brought his vintage 1970's copy of 'Fragile' over. A little noisy but spectacular sonics.

Earlier today, I was listening to some excellent Jazz (classic Jazz from the 50-60s) on the r.a.d.i.o.

And then few hours ago I spun those two CDs in my Rotel CD player; just for the fun of it. :b

* Madonna is encoded (recorded) in QSound (no decoder needed). ...The music is electronic, with some deep bass at times (electronic drums, synthesizers), very wide effects (stereo at almost 180 degree), but Madonna's voice is not my bag (she sounds like a spoiled, young little girl).
- I luv the tune 'Vogue', my fave.

** Dead Can Dance's first song is real cool, with very deep bass (synthesizer) at some points:
play it real loud to have that bass' full impact.

___________

A rainy Thursday afternoon in which a different mood settled in for me ...

P.S. You can click on those two picture covers above, for info & free music samples.

Good compilation:

Favorite is Eden Atwood's Blame it on my Youth. Interesting, because the SACD contains both stereo and multichannel versions of several songs, this one included.
