Tinka said it's okay with her if I move the sub-zero refrigerator and freezer into the living room to reduce the ambient noise level leaking from the kitchen into the listening room. But I am pretty sure she said OK only because she knows I wouldn't do it!

I moved my refrigerator into the garage to eliminate the low noise it made while running. Now that winter is approaching this is the best time of the year for music listening for me. The windows are closed, and more importantly, the neighbors are inside.

How far is the refrigerator in the garage from your kitchen?

Not far, this is a small (1200 sq ft) house. Maybe 20-30 feet. Considering the noise, and space, improvement, going to it doesn’t bother me.

I just measured ambient noise in my living room , it’s a quarter to 7 am here, the average during 15 s is 28,20 dB ( Decibel N app) .The advantage of countryside and 3 layers glass.

FWIW, I get readings of 23-25dB, the lower end if I hold my breath.
I'm only going off the noise meter on my phone so its very unscientific, and I don't know whether this is supposed to be A or C weighted. I live in the countryside and I had this room built so its well insulated as well as double glazed. .
All I can say is that subjectively this is the quietest room I've had.

What (Android) Apps are people using to make those measurements?

Is that reading on an app or with an SPL meter?
I found the app to be about +5db incorrect, but that is a really quiet room regardless.
An app, my main SPL meter only goes down to 29db, but I could test the app against the meter at a more fixed level to compare, will do this sometime soon.. The one thing I do notice is just entering the room (without music playing) you clearly sense the drop in ambient noise, it's a nice feeling just on it's own regardless of audio. The downside is it plays havoc with tinnitus..!

I noticed that as well Paul. Installing my room treatment has certainly improved things.

25dB here in the living room and that is even with the pump and filter of the fish tank behind my listening chair (around 4 meters away)

In the home cinema room, I thought it must be considerably lower but there it is 24dB

Both via Decibel X on an iPhone

It helps that all the equipment except for the projector is in an adjacent isolated room, and, that the projector is in a well engineered hush box.

Quiet out here in the countryside.. No HVAC running, home alone, nothing unplugged. I made all the noise try to hold and hit start on the iPad

Forget iPhones to measure anything. They can be off by 10-15 dB.

Lol.. they measure and judge 6 figure audio systems all the time on here with less.. Maybe if I compress my ambient sound through YouTube it will be more accurate
