VPI platter wobbling

Well, I have to make it wobble with my hands, but it does then wobble. What's the problem? The bearing assembly or the socket in the platter that fits over it? Any easy fixes? Thanks

Sounds like the bushings in your bearing are worn out.

Drat - my Aries 3 is only two years old; I've contacted VPI

To a certain extent, I am obsessing, like a true audiophile - I just played a blank track on a test LP and there is no mechanical noise at all... Still, it bothers me and I have a feeling this wobble might be within spec...

The bushings in my TNT bearing had .003 worth of slop. My new bushings were manufactured to .001.

Got the 'table back after 6 weeks; VPI certainly have a new and better bearing assembly which looks much prettier from below too. First impressions after listening to analog after such a long hiatus:

1. Definitely quieter playing a dead silent test track; in fact, dead quiet wrt rumble and volume at max
2. So nice to be listening to analog again! Strings sound so right
