Very interesting to read...thanks for sharing comments and insights. Most intrigued about how some have made comments about ceramic cones and Accutons...namely that some have managed to create mellifluous sound from them (Marten, Avalon, at one point Tidal, and it appears VSA and EA) and others have said that they can be a bit sterile though accurate in the wrong speaker design....I chose VSA due to it's phenomenal dispersion which I heard EA cannot compete with, being more directional. Guests have stood, sat, laid down and hear the same sound with only a different perspective compared to other speakers I've heard. I listen mostly to classical vocal and instrumental and jazz with some added rock from the 50's to the 80's. Also, a significant amount of both acoustical and electrical pre-tape recordings. VSA speakers do it all even if the tonality and tone density could be better on other speakers or omni speakers which can lack in other ways, the VSA balance and attributes are the entire package for me.
I was at one point reading up on some of the above speakers to learn more so insights are always appreciated, including how different designs both of which use Accuton may differ subtlely.
