"It is scheduled to have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival on September 27, 2019. The film is set to have a limited theatrical release, followed by digital streaming in late 2019 by Netflix."

How can you go wrong with that cast, director, and story material?

Exactly! Looking forward to this one.

Looks good. That whole era with the Kennedys fighting the corrupt CIA, Mob, Fed and Military Industrial Complex was fascinating. Looking forward to this flick hitting the cinemas.

Same here Steve...Marty Scorsese, Alfonso Cuarón, the Coen brothers, ... they are among the best film directors alive today and I like their avant-garde contributions to a wider reaching audience.

But for me I have to ask them “Is this a movie made for TV or is it a movie made for the big screen”

I ponder that because if truly for TV I am in the same camp as Spielberg and feel unless it is shown in the theater it should not be considered for an Oscar but rather an Emmy.

The Irishman is a movie for all; it will have a limited presentation @ some theaters, and worldwide release on Netflix. Some people watch Netflix on their iPads, others on their 200" front projector displays. So, is The Irishman (and Roma for that matter) made for TV or for the big theater screen? Best is to ask the question directly to Martin Scorsese and Alfonso Cuarón. Me it really don't matter as I can see it wherever I'm please and available.
The size of the screen is related to the distance from it.
The picture and sound quality is related to the theater and the premium 4K HDR/Dolby Atmos Netflix subscription.

@ David, this film is different than "Goodfellas" and "Casino". ...From my readings.

I loved those movies it's just that these actors have been type cast as mafiosi so many times that they're boring to watch.

They had no choice with the casting actors; they asked Donald but he wasn't available.

He's too busy winning but Turdeau was available! Problem was no one would believe a sissy as mafiosi :).

I meant Sutherland ... Donald. ;-)

* "Trou d'eau" in French is "water hole". ...Not my favorite French actor, no way.
_____

'The Irishman' is the last "mafiosi" flick from Scorsese.
It seems to have humor from the few trailers. We'll see later on this Fall.
And these guys they don't look younger anymore...like us.

Did you ever try to look younger, by changing your hair color, applying face cream, makeup and other product accessories from your wife's essentials?
That's what I'm afraid the most by this movie ...

I was talking about Turd-eau, do I need to translate that one :D?

david

Well, Trudeau makes a convincing black man, surely a maffioso would be easy?
