While waiting for the last couple of episodes of Task to drop we saw that PBS has started a new series called The Gold. This series has been shown in the UK and they actually released season 2 there.
This series covers the Brinks-Mat gold robbery in 1983. If you are not aware on 26 November 1983, a group of men dressed in security uniforms broke into a warehouse just outside of London's Heathrow Airport, hoping to find a large amount of foreign currency. Instead they found 6,800 gold bars which at the time was worth £26 million. At current gold rates of ~$4000 oz, that would be $384 million . The story goes on detailing how they were going to turn pure gold into clean cash they could use. If you watch British crime dramas you will recognize quite a few of the characters in supporting roles. We will finish the last two episodes of season 1 tonight and await season 2.
Since we support our local PBS station we are able to stream the entire season even though only episode 1 has been shown over the air.
