Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Is there an upgrade in SQ on the Evo after the Roon update does anyone know or can you only tell the difference with the Extreme ?

I noticed an immediate difference on the SGM and as Emile said it sounded like a bigger change to local storage than streaming. Quite impressive for a free upgrade but bear in mind my speaker/system is very revealing.
cheers

For anyone who uses the Daiza platform under their SGM do you use them under anything else Dac, Amp or Turntable and have you noticed a big difference using them under those components ?

I have noticed this too. happened 3-4 times since update.

Yes -a few times the last few seconds of a track have been skipped during playback since the upgrade. Roon 1.7 seems too eager to play next track ... ;)

If you see no reason to improve the quality of your playback, then what's the point of it all then?
By most reports, good switches improve sound quality, to different degrees. With the MSB, the SoTM (w/ clock option) was an absolute no-brainer upgrade.

When systems get past a certain point, you can no longer describe improvements in the old hi-fi terms like more bass, extended treble, deeper or wider soundstage. Any more in those areas would almost certainly sound unbalanced and over exaggerated.
So how do improvements sound? Greater finesse, yet more fine details revealed like greater texture and complexity, even better rhythmic interplay between musicians, improved note shape that decays further into deeper, more profound silence, timbral detail and texture associated with ever quieter instrumental passages, improved fine detail of the recording venue, greater musician detail like lip, tongue and saliva noises, fingerprints rubbing strings, etc. In short the music sound more lifelike, more real because there are yet more clues revealed about the person playing the instrument and the music becomes simply more understandable, expressive and therefore more enjoyable. You’ll have more shivers down the spine and tears in the eyes moments......you’ll gasp more at the beauty of the music...its gorgeousness, its ability to evoke deeper emotions. Its not like holding a magnifying glass to the music, its like opening the window pain or cleaning your glasses. Did you miss something before the improvements? Not if your system is working at the level I’m referring to....which is to say pretty much perfection. What the improvement brings is more profound beauty....enrapturement (if there is such a word)
In summary Steve, you definitely don’t need a switch....however you may very well benefit from one. As the old expressiopn goes, why not suck one and see? You didn’t get this far by not trying stuff ;)
