Taiko Audio Extreme Switch

Pretty sure that @keithc was asking what DC power supply you intend to use with your new Taiko switch.

[I can recommend a couple of fine models... ;)]
ohhh, i have MCRU power supply (430 GBP )that i used with m-scaler back in the day for 12V, feel free to recommend a good one if possible.

i am also thinking about getting Battery 12v i used sometime ago before i gave it away, Taiko making battery for the switch soon.

...hmmm. I wonder if an UptoneAudio JS-2 would work?

A JS-2 has been working here for years and years without a hiccup. Very solid unit.

i ordered the taiko extreme switch! 4-9 weeks of waiting starts now.

i heard that it needs 3 months+ to burn in. did anyone notice performance changes from day 1 vs 1 month etc?

i will use it with Antipodes k50 streamer. my current switch is LHY Audio SW-10 (1200$ or so) seems like it can't scale up with my DAC/AMP and make the sound brighter than it should, so i am going Taiko switch to take care of the final bottle neck in my setup.

hopefully then sound will calm down and be as refined as possible.
The Extreme Switch undergoes the most notable changes (an increase in liquidity, flow, and calmness) in the first hours, and then days. As it beds in further after that, changes can still be observed, but they become ever subtler. Even from the very first moment you start using it, however, the Switch sounds fluid, smooth, and organic.

Thanks for the recommendation, i am also thinking about 2x of these, 12v Battery, they give 3 hours easy, super dead quite

have anyone tried Battery Option yet? its dead quite and ultra clean. i tested it on old setup on m-scaler back in the days. i dont have it now, yet can borrow it from a friend and compare it to JS-2 when i get one as well.

i can't wait for Taiko 12v Batteries to come out.

Thanks for the info, i am very excited for Taiko Batteries as well :D

The batteries I have tried sounded good (a $100 battery pack from Amazon). Better than many inexpensive linear power supplies. However when I plugged in the charger they did not sound that good. There is a major inconvenience factor with batteries as well - too often they were discharged when I wanted to listen to music.

A good quality LPS sounds better than batteries here.

JS-2 certainly is a mighty fine lps.
Following advice in these pages I bought a Sean Jacobs mini arc6 dc4 and added a decent fuse (SR master).
Summing up my experience with the SJ would be: WOW!

What is the best way to clean the switch (and router) case surface?

Use the soft black cloth that came with the unit(s). If needed, use mild soap and a similar lint-free / Microfiber cloth. Take care not to use excessive force when wiping the surface, especially when using a towel or an old T-shirt, as this may leave superficial scratches.

Thanks. The black cloth didn’t remove all the fingerprints so I will try some mild soap and a microfiber cloth.

For fat and fingerprints, use some alcohol. Rubbing alcohol is a safe and non-corrosive option for chrome, but be careful with rough cloth anyway.

Hi, I’m interested to improve the Fiber input for my Grimm MU1. Please allow me to pick your brain(s)

How would you describe the effect of adding an Taiko Extreme Network Card in a server? Substantial, minor, ..? (Without an external switch)

And, would it be feasible to install the Taiko Extreme Network Card with a third party server?

Assuming that the card can be powered by the MU1 power supply, ideally the Taiko card would be placed inside the MU1 and connected with the computer board directly.

Could this be a path worthwhile to explore? Or - which I can imagine- will the Taiko network card only work with Taiko products?

I’m currently using a simple external fiber media converter (small device), which is powered via the MU1’s 5V USB output, which brings a good improvement. I’m not keen in adding more boxes & cables, hence the thought to add a better media converter/card internally (or in smallish external box, powered by the MU)

Hi Fred,

The Grimm cannot accept a third-party network card. Even if it would physically fit inside the chassis, the server's motherboard architecture and positioning within the chassis would render this not directly compatible.

With that said, I have tried the Extreme Router with the MU1, and it makes a notable difference, increasing liquidity, soundstage, and flow.
