I used to respect Art Dudley's opinions and I still like his writing. Unfortunately what he writes lately bears little or no relationship to the world I inhabit; I too would like wishes to become reality, but as I posted elsewhere just repeating something over and over won't make it true

I find Art's direction, which as you say, is very different from my own very refreshing. I really dig how there is something for everybody in this hobby. It's almost like looking into parallel universes sometimes.

I don't really mind Art's direction, even though it is different than mine, as you say it's nice that there is someone for everyone. I do have a problem with his expressed reasons for his choices as well as the way he expresses them.
No offense intended to anyone, but Art is not technically competent from an engineering or physical sciences standpoint, and I'm pretty sure he would be comfortable with that assessment. He is quite technically competent at building and repairing things, though.
Edit: then after all that less than complimentary prose from me, I find his "Listening" column in the latest Stereophile to be his most enjoyable (for me) in a long time. Go figure.
