Any you can find! Some of been re-issued (though obviously not direct-to-disc) and most were converted to CDs, althouhg even those are getting hard to find. The Lincoln Mayorga sessions and Amanda McBroom albums are classic "demo" discs, as is the Drum Record. I bought a bunch of the CDs on Amazon a while back (still have not played most of them).

I am one of those who prefer the The King James Edition. And like The the Name is Makowicz (I hope I got the name right) a lot!

A few of them were re-issued as CDs by FIM - including the Sheffield Drum Track, Dave Grusin, etc.
As much as I like the FIM versions, the definitive version is still the direct-to-disc though....

I will second the Confederation LP if you like Bluegrass. I was never able to find a silent copy of Amanda McBroom. The James Newton Howard LP and the Track Album don't stand up over time for me. They are more audio porn vice soulful music IMO. I also like the Tower of Power LP even though rumor has it they were coked up during the recording. It still cooks though.

You are so right. I lost track of how many movie credits I saw where JNH was the composer.
Sheffield Lab S9 is very good IF you can find it. SL 7 and 8 are also impressive. Plus, the others listed above.
Here are the Sheffield's with their titles that I have in vinyl. I bought almost all of these new about the time they were first released. I marked those that are or were on the Absolute Sound Super Disc List with TAS. This should be a good list for great sonics. Looks like I have all the Sheffield vinyl that was issued starting with S10. S10 and all the LAB series were Direct to Disk while the TLP series were direct to 2 track tape. Not sure, but I think those are all of the D2D Sheffields. I believe Doug Sax mastered all of the Sheffields.

Larry, I Loved seeing your list - I just went through it and realized that I have all the ones you named, which I also bought as they were coming out. I also had the first Lincoln Mayorga album (S-9) but sold it several years ago - as I recall, it was a limited edition and wasn't all that good - but, I was able to sell it for much more than I thought it was worth (but unfortunately much less than it would bring today.)
I vividly remember when that garish pink - Lincoln Mayorga "The Missing Linc" came out, and everywhere you went, it was being used as a "demo" record - Ad nauseam! Heard it so many times, I still won't play it! Those first two or three albums weren't all that good, performance wise, but the sound was certainly incredible for that time. Many of the later Lab series Direct to discs were good to excellent on both counts!
LAB 23 james newton howard and firends with jeff pocaro david paich of Toto is, imho one of the best sounding pop/rock recordings ever and the music doesnt suck either. when the cd came out in '84 i turned it on to some top car audio guys and it remained their reference disc for at least a decade - the perccusion and synth bass is stunning. All of the Sheffields sound great with few exceptions, if i were building a D2D collection from scratch id just get them all.
I love this album too and I am now on my second copy after wearing out the first. When I had those huge B&W speakers and I was able to crank the volume up it was such a great thrill. And the best sound of this LP was on a pair of B&W Matrix 800 driven by the Krell 1KW monster monos. My other favorite LPs on the Sheffield lineup: Michael Newman, both LPs. Amanda's Growing Up - still sounds good today. The Harry James series of 3 LPs. The Drum Record, and Discovered Again.
I have one at home, purely demo music, great sound, mediocre-ish music, can't remember the name.
