I've also found that if the tweeters are aimed below your ear level (I know they are raked back) then it will sound dull and lifeless. If they are aimed too high it's bright and thin. Just right and it's fantastic.

I use a precision digital level to match rake and left/right level. It is a very noticeable difference if you have a dialed in system.

FWIW, Michael, I actually don't use my Stabila digital level for setting speaker rake anymore. As I found out my basement floor isn't level/even, using the same rake angle of the two speakers do not point at the same height. I now use a laser measuring tool and a piece of tape on the back-wall; in short, I place the laser measuring tool on top of my speakers and make sure the laser dot of each speaker points at the same piece of tape on the back-wall. voila. That said, I still using the Stabila for left/right speaker adjustment. ymmv
