Jason PM me of M15A tips because he got the machine, and I try to answer in here maybe more people like to know about too
1) power is 240v, no way of rewire, use step up transformer if in 115v area, isolated + step up transformer is a good choose
2) if head block is face up then use Ki's way to convert tape and play I guest this way sound better than face down
3) if the machine don't come with remote unit, you can look for the point no.33 & 35 in the base broad and wire out and connect with a switch (see photo) on is NAB and off is CCIR,
4) for out side amp using no. 50&51, 59&60 in base broad is connect to repro head 53&58 is shielding connection, I use these wires in a selector switch for compare stock sound vs out side amp (see photo)
5) in tuning blue color controls is 7.5 ips and red is 15ips, P&T both for level , HI for high and HII for low frequency, T should work with T and p works with HII ( I am not quite sure because I can't read Germany only guested from the circuit drawing but also it is not that detail only in block of showing
6) line out put socket has to be changed to a normal one or to RCA
I hope these tips can help for who own the M15A machine and with fun too

Thanks for taking the time to elaborate on these issues Tony. Australia's mains power is 240v @ 50Hz so I have no problems with powering the machine. I am also waiting on the remote unit that originally came with my unit but is being shipped separately. I haven't seen it yet but it sounds like there's switching for NAB and CCIR equalisation on the controller.

At some point I would like to experiment wih outboard tube preamps. Do you find there's substantial difference between the original electronics versus your tube pre?
Regards,

Jason.

Hi Jason
I had posted those difference of listening in my last post marriage of Telefunkun and Studer

Have read it now, hadn't realised the thread had gone over to a second page! Also didn't realise these machines came with headlock facing up OR down either!

Hi,

I own a M15 (no A). Great machine but needs to be recaped.
If anyone need help, translation or technique, please, contact me. These machines are quite common here in Germany (and still cheap...)

Best regards

M15A's amp is all IC and I guest M15 still in transistor , is it true ? I will prefer M15's sound better than 15A just same like Studer A80RC better than A80UV (partly into IC)

Power switch

I don't see a "power Switch on my 15 A..Where is it? It has a ff/rewind logic problem..Do I need a card extender?

Hello Len

You can open the cutting device on the right. Underneath you find the power switch and speed selection.
On my machine I play around with 3 pot's (right English word?) and a screwdriver to adjust the tape tension and spooling speed. If there is an electronic problem, I can not help. Maybe it needs to be recaped. It helps the sound a lot.
You can download a manual on the internet, somewhere.

Hi Len,

Welcome to the R2R forum!

rewind/ff

the rew/ff button is enabled, the machine stops, no ff or rewind. Any clues. Do you need a card extender for service?

logic board

LG11 pull tab for logic board for Telefunken 15A Do you have a schematic diagram or inter connect diagram. Need logic chart for ff/rew operations.

If i could send the transport boards to you that will help. You could put them ina working machine and pin down theproblem.

Logic card

I need to varify if the logic cards are good. Could you check them in a working machine and let me know?
