Popularity of a step-up transformer?

I thought all Allnic had a MM and MC input. I have the H1201. MM is tube gain. MC is a combination of SUT and the tube.
If you want a phono stage for a MC pickup that is not based on a SUT, then you need another brand.

Try a Channel D lLino 3.3. Transimpedance can be a very good way to go. If you have the money, get the Ypsilon. There is also Essotetic. There are a boat load of phono stages with and witout a built in SUT.

SUT can do wonderful thinngs when paired correctly with the cartridge. I also have Denon 103R. I got the Bobs SUT that was made for my cartridge. That things is amazing on that cartridge. Better than my other MC phono devices.

in my system, the Allnic AUT-8000 into the EAR 868pl MM is a considerable improvement over the H1201 and H3000 I’ve owned.

My H1201 is only ok. My lino 3.3 is much better. I only chimed in as someone kept saying you can do better than a SUT, get an Allnic. I thought all Allnic had a SUT so the comments did not make sense.

I was looking at anothet Allnic that had the remote power supply with an Unobtanium tube to operate it. I never bought it because I did not want to rely on a tube that cost so much.

I do use the H1201 with the Bobs SUT and the Denon. I have never tried the Denon in the lino. I never removed the Aidas after I put it in.

Ortofon ST-70 configuration B 30db gain for cartridges less than 10ohm.
This is the isolated SUT response with Ortofon X40 which has 6 ohm internal resistance....
does NOT seem like an ideal match to me. hopefully config A 24db gain performs better.

The data giving the SUT response in from the difference with and without a SUT. Since I know form other teste the load in the MC stage does not alter the frequency response, the difference represents the true SUT response with the given cartridge1762183082399.png
