Both AMG, and A-S is seriously good turntables, one not necessarily better than the other but rather a personal preference of what one likes in terms of handling, design and performance. I was introduced to high level AMG decks of one of my dealers… It was very very very good, no doubt about it. However, I was totally flooded by the A-S Ascona Neo’s design and looks, and I also had the opportunity to have both the Typhoon and the Montana here to try out before deciding on the Ascona Neo. When I just recently had the Montana here for a second time, I didn’t want to let go - it was SERIOUSLY good, and played with an astonishing amount of authority!!!
I could easily recommend either one of them, (AMG or A-S) as they are both great decks. A-S Montana or the Ascona had, to me, a better design and looks.
A tip though - If you decide to go with a black Montana, remember when putting a black record on, that it feels like the turntable disappears, as there will be no contrast in colors. That is why I got one in silver… but that’s just me… YMMV .
