New Shunyata Sigma X series with QR technology

Thanks very much. I really appreciate your input.

I've had Sigma V2 NRs on all my source gear (connected to an Everest with Omega XC to the wall). I've replaced them with Sigma-X NRs on all the source gear and I'm blown away by the increase in noise reduction, detail, clarity, soundstaging in all dimensions, and overall presence of the sound (and the Sigma V2s are no slouches in those regards) – it's pretty remarkable.

However, I'm also noticing that the overall sonic presentation of the Sigma-X NRs seems fairly aggressive with significant energy in the higher frequencies, which on many tracks is a bit fatiguing. I have about 60 hours on the cables thus far, hence my question about any changes you've heard when your Xs settled in completely. And also, how many hours would you guesstimate that it took for the settling in?
I wonder if the new Sigma-X QR's would make a positive difference compared to the Sigma X - NR's. Do you use a Shunyata conditioner with the Sigma X -NR's or are your amps plugged directly into the wall? I am thinking about the Sigma X - QR variants for my future upgrades.

Thanks for commenting!

All four of my Sigma X-NRs are plugged into my Everest, which is powered by an Omega-XC. Sigma X-QRs for my front-end gear is going to be too pricey for my budget (and certainly Omega X-QRs would be, too!).

Per Caelin and Grant at Shunyata, each of my Pass monoblocks is plugged straight into a dedicated 20-amp circuit with an Omega-XC.

Has anyone upgraded to Sigma/Alpha-x from non-Shunyata brands? Would love to get your take.

Anyone upgrade from v2 speaker cable to x speaker cable? I’m thinking alpha x or used sigma v2.
Hello
I have never listened to the sigma v2 speaker cables, but this weekend I listened to the Sigma-X speaker cables in a friends system.

It was wooow, they have great detail, super low noise floor and it gives that depth and 3D effect on the music! Really silent background so you listen like more air between instruments and a super high resolution in the image! I am really impressed, is the best spkr cables I heard in my life. I want them so bad right now!

They settled in once I had a loom of them. All sounds clear but not over bright. Source material matters, so don't blame cables, if it is the recording. Compare several recordings of different genre to evaluate. Good luck.

As far as the Omega X vs Omega, I have not evaluated as I have the Omega XC to my Everest and don't see a need to spend more on cables at this point.

Hello Kimmusic @kimmusic
Have you received the sigma-x QR power cords? How they sound ??

I am wondering how the sigma-x QR sounds vs the old omega QR !!!

Thanks

wow, a little bit too late for me to read your comments with sigma-x.
I went with a used sigma v2 and found it suits very well with my new speaker.

Consider my experience with sigma-x ethernet cable, I think it sounded similar with the sigma-x sc you described.
Hopefully I get into sigma-x upgrade maybe 4 or 5 years later :p

Also I will receive the omega-x usb cable and alpha-x ground cables later this months.

Hi everyone,

I’m currently running Pass Labs XS300 monoblocks in my main system with Wilson Audio Alexia V speakers and Shunyata Everest X for power distribution. My current power cords for the XS300s are Shunyata Theta NR, and I’m considering upgrading to the Shunyata Sigma X QR (or NR) specifically for the amplifiers.
Has anyone here tried this combination — Sigma X on XS300s (or XS150/XS Pre) — and compared it to Theta NR, older Sigma, or other high-current cables (like AQ Dragon, Odin 2, etc.)?

I’d be especially interested in hearing:
  • Differences in dynamics, soundstage, and background noise
  • Whether the QR version makes a significant difference on Class A amps like the XS series
  • Any system synergy insights when combining Shunyata X-series cords with the Everest X
Thanks in advance for any first-hand impressions or setup details!

Best regards,

Ron.

Your system with the Wilson Alexia V and Everest X should be amazing already. I have an Everest 8000 that I just upgraded to the X, and Krell Solo 375 mono amps. I added Sigma X QR power to the amps after having Sigma NR. It improved clarity, dynamics, speed, and silence. Everest X and those Wilsons are very high end. You will get major improvement with the high current power capability the Sigma X QR will add. However, do not underestimate what an Altaira can do with improved grounding, if you have not gone down that road. Good luck.
