I grew up in North Carolina when Everett Case, NC State head basketball coach, brought big time college basketball to the South (outside of UK). In those days NC State's Reynolds Coliseum lead the nation in college basketball attendance, and their big event was the eight team Dixie Classic - until it got shut down by a point shaving scandal.

Huge loss to the basketball world today with the passing of Lennie Wilkens. It dates me but I remember as a kid watching him as a player. He was slick and smooth as silk. His smile was unforgettable. A great player and IMO a great coach

Watching the quarter final Cup game tonight between Lakers and spurs, I have to agree with you Jack....San Antonio is a poised, skilled and very younfg team as they are taking it to the Lakers in the first half and open a 17 point lead

I believe they can match up well and possibly beat the Lakers in the playoffs. Their speed and bench outclasses the Lakers.
Whether they can beat the Thunder however is another story but it would be a great WC final to see those two young teams at it

Lakers have to shed the weight of LeBron and bid him adieu before they can ever emerge as a contender again. They are a better team than last year but LeBron IMO is a hinderance

Lakers make a bit of a run but the spurs take a 12 point lead to close out the half

Spurs are a very good team.

The Spurs are totally destroying the Lakers in the third period as they take a 21 point lead with seven minutes left. Their speed, finesse and youth with great accuracy are humiliating the Lakers. And to think that they are doing this all without their star player the spider. Next year, they will probably be a strong contender in the Western Conference as if they aren’t already now.

My surprise of the year so far Stevie is how much the OKC kids have gotten better. I'm starting to eye them like the prime era Bulls almost. They are looking like an unsolvable problem. Aaaargh and I HATE that. LOL There is no worse feeling than your team being doomed when these guys roll in. Aaaargh again out of grudging respect.
