Need guidance on a Pacific 2

I just acquired a Pacific 2, no volume control, built in late 2023, used several months, then traded in for different gear. It has been sitting for a year--I have not tried it yet. Ok to power it up as is? I have no streamer for it--want to use my Esoteric K01-XD SE as a transport to play standard CDs. Using digital out from Esoteric, AES/EBU cable to Pacific input, then analog XLRs out to my preamp. I could use a variac to power up DAC, or does it stage up slowly by design? Thanks for any advice you have.
