Jadis, your photo in post #80 is very good looking. May I ask what brand and model phone you used for that picture?

Sam, it is the Huawei P30 PRO phone with Leica lens. It is my brother in law's phone which is with my daughter because she is setting up some apps for his uncle, and I played with the camera because I heard it is very good. It's specialty is that it can shoot very well in dark situations - like this amp picture, the room was virtually dark and only the tube glow was feeding light to the phone camera.

Prior to the world hysteria, my ordered NOS tubes for my Jadis PA100 amp finally arrived, just in time for the 'lockdown' in our region. 4 pcs Brimar military grade 12Au7s and 2 pcs Telefunken low noise special selected 12AX7s (with red tips). They replaced the stock Russian tubes, but the power tubes are still the stock EH KT88s.

23 years for a loudspeaker change is quite long even for my own standards. That's how long I have my trusted old horse the MG 2.7QR. The last 5 years or so I had been hunting for a dealer somewhere near as our country has lost its dealership of Magnepan. Last May I finally asked my classmate who now lives in Michigan to call Magnepan and ask it they will ship directly to the Philippines. The answer was negative but the guy on the phone recommended 3 Asian dealers who can ship them to me. One of them agreed and a deal was struck last June and yesterday, a brand new pair of 3.7i loudspeakers arrived in my home. I had to unpack them myself and put it up with the help of my son. After a few hours (with rest) , they were up and ready to play. I was told 300 hours is the average burn in time to make some critical judgement. My first hours of listening told me, the detail, speed, attack, bass, and transients were a class above my old 2.7s, Happy at its initial sound and can't wait to hear its full potential. :)

I'm sure you will enjoy them vastly ;)

First 2 nights, I am loving them already. Same Maggie house sound, with sparkling sweet highs and more extended bass, off the bat.

3rd week of these new Maggies and they are already sounding great. First week they were sounding disoriented, with lack of focus and bass control as the main culprits. The sound was also quite 'forward'. A few days ago, I decided to put these DIY spikes under the oval base of the 3.7i's. The steel spikes were from my old 240 lbs per side B&W800 speakers. Since Magnepan never provided any provisions for spikes, I have to screw then in some wood blocks so as not to damage the original wood base.

The effect of these spikes are startling. It's like magic. Bass control and focus immediately improved by a notch. Very noticeable. Images are now also very stable with less drifting. They are getting better by the day, perhaps the breaking in is happening. The soundstage is very dimensional, with instruments floating all around the space between and sometimes even beyond the speakers. What I hope to happen is for the midrange to be more fleshed out in the future, they are a bit 'shy' at the moment.
