My dedicated audio room build - QuadDiffusor's Big Dig

Today was a milestone day in my 2.75 year-long Big Dig journey!

Late last year, my second hand Von Schweikert Audio Ultra 9 loudspeakers started their journey of being lovingly upgraded to its latest iteration, the VSA Ultra.Nines. After being stored for a few months post-upgrade, they sailed for a month across the oceans, then were stored again for a month after arrival at the local forwarder's warehouse.

This morning, they were finally dropped off on my driveway.

A crew of six men came over in the afternoon to help move them into my basement. Weighing over 213 kgs (470+ lbs), and of considerable size, the crates needed both brute force and a deft touch to maneuver.

Luckily, my elevator was just large enough to accommodate the crate. Yep, that's a reflection of me holding my orange iPhone 17 ProMax, capturing an image whose file size of 3.2MB breached the limit for direct uploads into WBF. Grr, I've had to post-process and compress all photos from my iPhone before uploading them here! (Now, and forever?)

They're being stored (again) under the staircase in the basement, until the listening room will be ready at around mid-December.

The area where the speakers are sitting will become our mini-gym, once cleared. Note the dedicated audio breaker box, The Century, which was also just installed just today.
Two milestones in one day - YAY!!

QD, so sorry, those crates are on the large side. But they are in the room safe and sound:)

A 40-foot equivalent unit (FEU) container will be filled with 77 individually packed boxes of QRDs to be shipped to my home. Please wish my babies a smooth and safe journey!

Check out these exquisite burled-mahogany veneer finishes on the four P17s! They will be mounted on the sidewalls with their surfaces facing the rear wall.

BTW, the photo below is likely not color-accurate, as the stain on the fins and wells are actually more brown / less red.

What are you using to measure rfi? Is the room below ground level?
Wil,

Did you not know that my listening room is 5+ meters underground?
I'm using the Safe and Sound Pro II meter:

It's super sensitive, and it always freaks out with loud blips and hisses anywhere it's turned on outdoors, displaying unbelievably high micro-watt readings in the dozens of thousands of microwatts. Here's photo taken earlier today in the presence of workers who had their mobile phones turned on. Between the pulses of RFI emitted from them, I managed to capture a spot reading of merely 5.00 microwatt in between the blips.

I'll try to get a reading next week (once I'm back from overseas), when no mobile phones are present.
