MSB Select DAC II. The way every DAC on the planet should be built.

They buck the trend out of necessity. Because half of what they build comes pre-built by 3rd parties. If they didn't do this, they wouldn't have parts to build their product.

Not true. It is done due to Lukasz desire to keep improving. He could be introduce breakthrus monthly if left to his own devices. LoL

No sir. My point is that if everyone does modular then everyone does the same DAC within a small delta.

I think your highlights are the upgrading and servicing of the unit. Easy to replace modular parts and like with your Mirus, easy to update to latest and greatest chip.

But because a few parts can be upgraded easily doesn't mean that it is good business or that everyone should do it and most importantly doesn't it that what is the best for sound quality. I never got that part with all of your supporting facts.

This is the part that is very important. You let me disagree with you and not insist that your way is still better. Heard all your points and still disagree and it is ok :)

Point heard. And I know you are a dealer of DAC's that aren't built in a modular form factor. So by agreeing with me 100%, you would be saying you don't believe in the products you sell. You would never do that, and I would never expect you to.

So your telling me Lukasz could easily build his own USB interface in house that kills the Amanero, but he doesn't because he has the desire to keep improving?

The point is when you build a DAC out of several 3rd party pre assembled products, you don't have the option to build them on a single cleanly laid out board anyways. This is not saying it a bad way to do things, it's just saying some manufacturers completely build everything from scratch from raw components. So they have the luxury to make the decision to build modular, or all on 1 board.

This is not true, but I can't be bothered to refute in detail. I have been following Lampi developments for years.

IS THE USB equivalent to the Dac?

Very few people build all components from scratch and even when they do, they still have some generic parts. MSB select costs as much as it does due to amortization of bespoke equipments used in manufacturing. So, that is ultimately a business decision.

They are about as Modular as LAMPI. Hand built, so they can do much of the same upgrading manually…only that with the weight, shipping is a BEAR.

Let it go Man! People don't have to see life through the same lenses you do. Honestly from my perspective I don't see a modular DAC as the absolutely best way you do. And those who purchase such items do not seem to mind. I do cringe at the price of some DACs and find it absurd to comical but if a person can shell out $90K for a DAC it is because they can ..more power to them... And more funds to the designers to improve their lives and their business .. AN audiophile DAC It is not a life and death or even morality issue ..

All that IMHO, IME, with all due respect and the usual online modifiers :)

How is it not true? Half of the Lampi components are simply DIY modules from third parties. Let's look at the Amber for instance, it's just a budget DIY 9018 kit from DIYINHK:

a DIYINHK USB interface:

With a fancy tube output stage, and power supply plunked in a case.

Very generous of you. Now I am fully aware there is no disagreeing with you.

The Digital section is a separate pcb and can be upgraded to latest whatever. He wouldn't know that since he doesn't care

I knew this thread would ruffle some feathers. This is because only a small % of DAC's are built this way. The only people who are going to find this thread valuable are those who are in the market for a new DAC, and are looking for lasting value. This is who this is intended for. Also manufacturers who may be reading, may find that the information makes sense, and rethink their next DAC design. No harm will result from this, only good.

This is the price that simply has to be paid to successfully implement this goal.

Well it's modular after all. So you do agree that modularity is the way to go after all.

You may have missed my Agenda given you have been quite busy with your own. I am here for BI, nothing to prove to anyone.

Not sure why you would say "Heard all your points and still disagree and it is ok" then if you were in agreeance the whole time.

Not sure what is wrong with you, Blizz. You seem to want to argue with anyone and everyone regardless. I have written clearly in another thread that the modular nature of my GG is indeed very desirable to me. I don't think you have ruffled any feathers - you have possibly annoyed people as your posts are often written in a rude and antagonistic manner. Anyway - can't take any more of this pain.

Lol. You're a funny guy Blizz. Normally I have to pay extra for this much entertainment

It's actually my responses to the constant attacks that become rude and antagonistic. I think Narayan summed it up fairly accurately. Is he the only one who doesn't have tunnel vision?

"Ok can someone please explain to me all the hostility towards Blizzard? He starts a perfectly normal and to me interesting post and so far has been called sheep, unintelligent, dumb, clownish and has reacted extremely well to the insults spewed by the angry mob, he either has nerves of steel or doesn´t give a sh.t :)"

Bliz,
No one cares what you say. Yours is just one opinion. However, because you are so "I am always right/My way or the highway" then you create a field of battle. You are a DRAMA KING.....always ready for the next battle. You did not want to discuss calmly the good and bad points of modularity......NO, you wanted to ram your opinion down our throats. Just look at the title "The way every DAC on the planet SHOULD be built". This is your statement of TRUTH.....and then you need to defend your statement. There is no compromise. You are correct and everyone else is wrong. This kind of divisive thinking is what has gotten the planet in the mess we are in. Can you hear what anyone else but yourself has to say? Is your way the only and true way? You want to ruffle feathers. I feel sorry for you. Happiness comes when you make others happy.....not when you engage in battle with them. Righteousness is not LOVE..... LOVE.....JOY....HAPPINESS come from sharing what you know will actually "help" someone. This thread helps no one.

I find it amusing that you are trying to sell your $5K Modular DAC because you made your own DAC for a few hundred dollars that is better. Then you preach about modularity......really amusing.....maybe that is what this thread is......sort of like reading the funnies on Sunday. You know it is all a joke.

No doubt you will have to reply and say something about my "tweaking" or such.......go on....have fun!

The drama is what results shortly after I share information. The Drama kings are the ones who oppose my ideas, with absolutely nothing to back up their end besides emotion.

Simple hardware discussions, turn into an episode of Maury from these guys, you included.
