I have a friend near Milan that has 9 turntable and 5 phono stage.
He has 40 cartridges,Koetsu Blue Lace,Dynavector XV1S and 1T,Lumiere,ART 1000,AudioTekne,IOM,Proteus,GFS,and many others and he has also many MM and he likes a lot MM cartridges, old MM like Shure,Stanton and others. He is listening now mainly with MM and tols old records are unlistenable with new MC and sound much better with MM

I have no new experience with MM in last years,so i dont know,or he became crazy or something is true

Some of the better vintage mm cartridges are more neutral than majority of mc cartridges that are very colored in comparison. There’s also the issue of cartridge and SUT compatibility that doesn’t come into play with mm. This doesn’t mean that mc cartridges are inferior just that many have a flavor. On the negative side mm cartridges lack the body of mc, I don’t recommend them with solid state phono stages.

I have several MM carts that I enjoy regularly. The is a very long thread on Audiogon that discusses some of the best carts from the golden age of vinyl, some of my favorites are:

-Signet TK-9 series
-Grace
-Shure V15 MK3
-Technics

They all sound wonderful with my SME 3012R and they track very well, especially the Signets.
