Excellent and always fascinating Misha Mengelberg - this time a Dutch-New York quartet with Han Bennink, Dave Douglas and Brad Jones on board. Fantastic, modern post-bop playing of Mengelberg's own compositions and Monk's two iron standards: 'Monk Moods' and Criss Cross' and the title, also Monk's' Four in One'. The title perfectly reflects the character and coherence of the quartet - a combination of joyful playing and complicated thoughts with the feeling and energy of Monk, Mingus and Nichols.
