Short of a loss of life or personal injury, the next worse tragedy that we face is our possessions being lost. Such a loss happened to Resolution Audio Video a few days ago, when their beautiful showroom and significant inventory of vintage audio gear, along with a massive vinyl collection, burned. It's a total loss.

You can learn more about the owner, Adam Wexler in various interviews he's given, such as this one:

I have never met Adam, nor have I bought anything from him (yet) - which should make the fact that I'm writing this even more compelling. Adam has taken the time to help me with questions about my Nagra gear -- gear that he never sold me. He always takes the time to reply, and seems to genuinely have interest in my passion for the hobby; for example in my speakers (which are not sold anywhere, and which most dealers simply brush off to try to sell me another pair).

It's all too common in this hobby to have dealers act like your best friends, until a few days after you have purchased the component. I can tell you that most dealers I have dealt with lost interest in how I'm enjoying my system soon after the transaction was done.
Adam is not that type of person.
Which is so rare, and all the more painful to have had this massive loss happen to his business.

If you can and want to contribute, there is a Go Fund me page here: https://gofund.me/a05f3be13
I believe he would also love any vinyl albums that are great but that we may not need, or have multiple copies of.

I believe Adam will soon say something here as well, so let's also welcome him here.

Just browsed the website, and it looked like a beautiful setup. Were they able to save anything, was there insurance?

Hey there Zoetrope,--
It's Scottie from Resolution Audio here. We've had conversations in the past. Thank you so much for your kind words and downright humanity -- we really appreciate this so much. Adam & myself were all set to go to London on Fri Sep 19 and then onto dCS in Cambridge the following Monday. However, during the early hours of Thursday, we woke to a stream of messages and calls indicating the building we are in was on fire. Adam & I later that day decided I should continue solo to dCS and represent, which I did, hence the delayed response here having only returned late Thursday. Needless to say, we're currently all at it and all-in right now taking care of our clients and the biz side of things.
So, here we are now:
UPDATE -- CURRENT SITU
This was a major fire at an our colossus of a 150 year old warehouse building in Red Hook Brooklyn on Thursday. As you already mentioned, thankfully, none of our team were harmed. Two fire firefighters of the 250 deployed were reported to have experienced minor injuries. In short, BIG thanks to FDNY!
We’re still not allowed back in yet, and it might be some time before we are. The fire didn't hit our space, but we’re fearing a complete loss due to smoke and water, but NO total destruction of the building, of which our suite we intend to rebuild out of. While we have a great insurance policy, it's definitely not a policy that is set up to cover the entire business, so we’ll certainly need everybody's help, continued or NEW business, and all the support we can to rebuild. In 2012, the business was completely destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, with everything lost then too. We built back bigger, better, and stronger then. We'll do that once again, which started the moment we saw the flames, smoke, and water.
We are not into pressure sales in any way, but just know that if anyone does decide to move forward with a new system, component, or upgrade of any kind at this time, it would greatly help towards rebuilding what we’ve just lost,... which as the days pass by with no access to our headquarters is sounding more and more like everything.
BIG thanks from the Resolution team!

Good luck getting back on your feet, Scott and Adam. It's a tough time in general for the industry, with tariffs and global uncertainty among the challenges. As a former New Yorker, I know you'll recover and be stronger than ever!

Thanks for your show of compassion and thoughtfulness -- it really means so much during this toughie of a time. Just know we're right in about it, ON it!... still making it happen -- the music- the magic, we're doing that -- there is no other way, for that is who we are!
Genuinely, thanks for the well wishes as we keep on with the keeping on biz,... hopefully we're a beacon of light to the rest of industry and beyond from these shores of Red Hook, Brooklyn.
A warm thanks from Resolution!
