Jeff's New Music Room, the Return of Jeffrey_t

Hello All!
Due to some welcome and overdue forum changes, I'm happy to return and share my new music room and system. I'll be using my Audiogon user name going forward. Over the last year I built a dedicated room on my property, my last room was a converted garage. This room has the following features:

-Dedicated lines with 10 awg copper wire and separate ground
-Shear walls all around
-Quite Rock II drywall
-Blue Jeans insulation
-Wood roof with slightly uneven rafters to break up the reflections
-Custom built record rack behind the listening position that acts as a giant diffuser
-Bathroom/utility room for record cleaning

The system has also been updated, as I've sold all of the Lamm gear. The major focus of the system is to capitalize on the new quite dedicated lines and have a zero hum system. You can put your ear up to the midrange horn and hear nothing. I listen to 90% analog so the heart of the system is the PBN Garrard 401 which continues to be a stellar performer, I really can't think of another turntable I would want. My new phono stage is the phenomenal Aurorasound Vida Supreme. It is extremely musical, flexible, dynamic, and silent. With some help from two WBF members (thanks @Al M. and @KeithR) digital streaming has been added to the system, really great for rock and finding new music. Blue Node streamer and Schitt Yiggy DAC are a lot of fun to mess with. I've also added a TVC to the system (thanks @213Cobra), the very musical Luxman AT-3000. It also helps with the theme of silent and black backgrounds. Two SET amps give different flavors, 2 watt 45 for clarity and 8 watt 300B for added warmth. Full system list:

-PBN Garrard 401
-LDA Turntable Power Supply
-SME 3012R x 2
-VDH Colibri Stradivarius
-Ortofon SPU A95
-Aurorasound Vida Supreme Phono
-Blue Node Streamer
-Schitt Yiggdrasil LIM
-Yamamoto 45
-Xaio Nan 300B hand made mono blocks
-JBL Hartsfield

Here are some pictures of the project:

Are your Hartsfields two-way or do they have the 075 tweeter as well? What frequency does the Tannoy ST operate from?

Sure looks like a tweeter on top of the cabinet in the last two pictures but it does not look like the Hartsfield JBL 075 bullet tweeter.

Jeff, I know this thread has to a large extent moved on from talking about the actual listening room but I haven’t! We’re just in the process of purchasing a new home and in dreaming about my new listening room I keep coming back to yours! While it won’t be anywhere as nice, your room is a constant source of inspiration.

The Hartsfields are 3 ways, using the JBL 075 bullet tweeter. I’ve been thinking I need a little more sparkle on cymbals so I wanted to try a super tweeter. The Tannoy is known to blend well with vintage speakers and I have to say I’m quite happy. Enhanced highs as expected, but also more articulate bass.

Thank you for your kind words. The room is an absolute success, and the star of the system. I really believe having dedicated 10 awg lines, high ceilings, and most importantly having the record wall acting as a diffuser at the back of the room make it so.

Feel free to DM me if you want to chat about the room or schedule a visit.

Is that your JBL 075 bullet tweeter in the above pictures. It looks so different than the ones I've seen. Were there more than one version of these?

edit: never mind, Peter explained it to me.

I’m still messing with the crossover. 95dB is the right setting but I’m still not sure if the crossover should be 14 or 16hz.
I'm running 95dB sensitivity and 14kHz with Tannoy Westminsters.

For the purpose of not just super tweeter, I have performed extensive measurements in room to blend subs etc as seamlessly as possible, the audible difference between 14-16 is minimal. (nil to my ears.)

In my room the Tannoy's start to gradually roll off around 14-15 kHz so super tweeter blends well at this FQ.

Interesting you notice an improvement in the bass, a small unexpected gain i also noted.

The difference in my room with the ST200 is quite subtle, though i can sense something is missing/lacking when i remove them.

A slightly more airy presentation and perceived improvement in the leading edge of mid bass, ever so slightly more snap/impact.

I love Westminsters, they have the best bass of any speaker I’ve ever heard.
